Young players find a chance to excel at Asia Youth U-19 Championships – Badminton news
Malaysia’s young badminton players have a got a wonderful chance to make their presence felt in the upcoming 100Plus Badminton Asia Youth U-19 Championships 2013, which will kick off in Malaysia, from today, on July 8.
Malaysia is facing a dearth of top class players in the junior or younger lot and this tournament will also serve as a testing ground for the upcoming players. They have got a chance to prove their worth and find a place under the banner of Badminton Association
of Malaysia (BAM).
The most prominent players representing Malaysia in this junior championship are Soo Tech Zhi and Soong Joo Ven in the Singles category.
Ong Yew Sin and Darren Issac Devadass will be playing in Doubles. There shuttlers have recently won the Boy’s Doubles title in 100Plus Grand Finals.
While talking about the prospects in this international tournament, Darren said that he will put his best efforts to win the gold.
He said, “We are happy to be given the chance to represent Malaysia and we hope to come back with a gold medal.
He further added, “We have had good preparation and I believe we can deliver a medal, if not the title.”
All leading Asian countries are participating in this prestigious tournament at junior level. It is a chance for the Malaysian shuttlers to prove their worth by performing well in this championship. A better performance will earn them a status they deserve
and they might be able to grab the attention of official body of badminton.
Malaysian players will have a considerable advantage over the opponents as they are more familiar with the playing conditions in Malaysia. They will also have a huge support from the home crowd that always remained a powerful factor behind the success of
Malaysian shuttlers.
Since, Malaysia is not finding an outstanding junior player who could lift country’s flag like world’s best player, Lee Chong Wei. Which is a worrying fact for BAM and the governing body is looking forward to find potential shuttlers for reviving the standards
of the game.
The Badminton Asia Youth U-19 Championships will continue the whole week and the final will be played on Sunday, July 14.
