Young players volleyball camp in Luxembourg turns out to be huge success – Volleyball News
The Western European country Luxembourg recently hosted the first ever CEV Small Countries Division development camp, which drew a total of 36 Under-18 boys and girls teams from Liechtenstein, Scotland, and hosts Luxembourg.
The sole purpose of the camp was to create an opportunity for young volleyball players, who have the desire to become the future superstars. The player of different nationalities got together and shared their experiences.
Detlev Schoenberg and Dieter Scholl conducted the activity in the shoes of head coaches, while Liechtenstein National Coach – Marc Demmer, German trainer and Physiotherapist - Linda Damerau, Luxembourg Assistant Coach - Massimo Tarantini, Scottish Coach
– Graeme Spowart, Sports Psychologist Alioune Toure, and Video Analyst - Torsten Schoof performed their duties as assistant coaches. All of them shared their knowledge with the young players.
The participants of the camp got to learn a lot from the experienced coaches. They were taught how to control the ball during the matches. Small sided games were arranged, in order to allow the players to get maximum touches of the ball. Following the practice
and drill, the players were offered to throw an introduction of their respective countries. The players introduced themselves and described their volleyball backgrounds. This interactive session was seemingly a lot of fun for the players of different nationalities.
The German trainer and Physiotherapist Linda Damerau helped the participants to take an extensive warm-up before the start of each session. She also told them about the fitness training and education. Likewise, the Sports Psychologist Alioune Toure conducted
an interactive seminar on team building, which included the key elements of forming a team. The team building session was followed by problem solving games, which tested the skills of participants. The first day of the camp concluded successfully and it seemed
to have a good effect on the players.
The attendees of the camp learned about defence, attack and different other skills on the following days. The camp followed an extensive and intense schedule, but it turned out to be a great success and the next generation of volleyballers totally benefitted
from it. The CEV small countries development volleyball camp ended on a happy note.
