Young team Geox-TMC happy with their performance at Tour of Utah – Cycling News
Italian cyclist Giampaolo Cheula who was riding at the Tour of Utah showed some splendid skills at the stage 5 and managed to win the award for most aggressive rider as he finished the stage ten minutes behind the race leader Sergio Luis.
The 32-year-old added that all of his team Geox-TMC members were keen and positive to perform at the Tour and he pointed out that winning the most aggressive rider’s jersey on the tough stage of Tour of Utah was something really positive and has boosted
up his team’s morale.
Team Geox-TMC is a young team as most of the players are between 20 to 23-years-old and has been registered for a UCI Professional Continental Team for 2011. Team had victories in races like San Sebastian as they finished at the first position followed by
a third stage win in Giro del Trentino and some good performances in Fabio Duarte Brixia Tour and Fabio Felline.
Team’s nationality is Spanish and is currently sponsored by a shoe manufacturing firm based in Italy named Geox along with a multinational company named TMC.
Team Geox-TMC who had had a successful Tour of Elk Grove held between August 5 to August 7 with Giampaolo Cheula finishing third in the second stage at the Tour of Elk Grove as he said, “We had more success at the Tour of Elk Grove but the Tour of Utah was
much tougher with respect to the climbing and so we are happy with our performances.” Geox-TMC was declared as the best overall team at the Tour of Elk Grove, 2011.
Cheula finished 28th overall after the final general classifications as he told a famous cycling website about his team’s experience in the Tour of Utah, “Our team came to the USA for our sponsor Fuji because that is an American brand and they
wanted to have some presence in the US.”
Team finished at 14th position after stage 5 general classifications at Tour of Utah, 2011 with team Gobernacion Indeportes Antioquia, Team Garmin-Cervelo and Team RadioShack with first, second and third positions respectively.
