Young vegetarian?

i've got a friend and she's eleven but a vegetarian. she's only young and i want to know what good protien things she could have as she's really skinny, but she's adament she's never eating an animal again.

  1. There are many many healthy and protein packed foods.

    For burgers and fake meats try: morning star, boca burgers, both of these brands are found in your large local food store.

    For protein, get her to eat lots of grains, beans and lentiles.

  2. She could be really thin because she hasen't hit the 'filling out' phase in puberty.

    However, it is EXTREMELY important that she gets in all of her protein [and other minerals/nutrients/vitamins], to ensure she meets her full growing capacity and stays healthy.

    She should make sure to eat things such as tofu, peanut butter, hummus, cheese, yogurt and other similar food items that contain a good source of protein. She should also be sure that she is still getting all of the other required  food groups [grains-expecially whole grains such as oatmeal and whole wheat bread, fruits and vegetables- all different colours to ensure she is getting ALL nutrients, dairy- low-fat yogurt, cheese, milk, and the alternatives in the 'meat and alternatives food group- such as walnuts, almonds, peanuts, beans, , etc.

    Hopefully that helps...you should also just check out the grocery store and any nutrition stores near you as, today, there are a lot more options for vegans/vegetarians because it is becoming much more common.
