Question:

Young women are treated better?

Something I've noticed in my workplace is that young women are treated waaay better!

Within a month of working there, I've been yelled at, sworn at by my superiors, and if I s***w up once they run out of all patience.

Yet, I have not seen them get mad at the new girls (3 of them) ONCE yet, even though they've made similar mistakes....

Have you noticed that women get away with more these days?

  1. I have noticed that as well, but mainly in treatment of little boys versus little girls.  Surely, this is not what women meant by equality ... being harsher on boys then girls will only perpetuate the nothing of gender inequality.  Even worse is when you see mothers and fathers ripping their sons apart but letting their girls get away with more.  I recently graduated and joined the workforce and although I don't work directly with any guys my age, I can tell you that I've noticed some differences.  The guys are making more money despite putting in seemingly less work then I am and certainly caring less then I do.

Your bosses (men I'm assuming) sound like sexist jerks to me and they're probably after the girls for their physical appearance (which should offend the girls if they become aware of it).

If you're like me and don't have much experience, you will have to suck it up and stay there for a while until the economy improves slightly and then you can move elsewhere.   I'm sorry your boss is being harsher on you, but take this opportunity to prove him wrong and show him what you're truly capable of!

As for you saying that women don't get into trouble for making the same mistakes, that worries me as a women because that tells me that men are supposed to be perfect whereas women are expected to be f*ck ups in the work place ... really, everyone loses.

I'm sorry hun, good luck and I hope you and I will both move on to better jobs soon.

  2. thanks for this question ..I think you are wright ..women are treated differently .. the first thing anyone notice about a woman is her look..her walk..and the last thing anyone notice is her way of thinking.. well..you should thank God this is not you..its really humiliating in fact..even if you are treated badly its better than treated like .. I don't have the word to describe it ..but get it?!

  3. Not necessarily young women but prettier women with bigger b***s definitley.

  4. I think it depends on your boss. At my old job, we had a boss who was a middle aged very unhappy woman who only liked the older workers. She would take out all of her anger on us younger women. But at my husband's job, he has an older man as a boss, and the women there (are all young and pretty conveniently) but they can do no wrong, even though they had no experience for the job. My husband and all the other men are always blamed for their mistakes.

  5. Yes! I think it's so unfair too. When I was in school, the teachers would tease the pretty girls but then cut them so much slack when they did something stupid or broke a rule (texting in class, eating etc).

See, I'm a girl too, but I'm not ditzy at all. I'm kinda cold & dress modestly. Provocatively dressed, loud, giggly girls had it EASY. I'm not ugly (I don't think!), but my teachers didn't like me b/c I wouldn't laugh at their dumb jokes etc. Sooo, they basically saw I was strong and interpretted it as a cue to be mean to me *sigh* If I ever broke a rule I was treated just like the guys. It sucks...but pretty, bubbly girls get away with more sometimes.

    =/
