Youngest ever Formula 1 Champion, Sebastian Vettel
Sebastian Vettel became the youngest ever driver to win a Formula 1 championship with his team Red bull racing in 2010. He along with his teammate helped their team Red Bull racing win the constructor’s championship.
Vettel started racing karts in 1995 at the age of eight. He was brought in Formula 1 by BMW Sauber. Vettel has been setting records of being the youngest driver to lead a race. He became the youngest to qualify for pole, and, the youngest ever to win a Formula
1 race.
Then in 2009, he became the youngest ever racer to be the runner up. He ended that season behind Lewis Hamilton. After setting all these records at the youngest age of all, he finally became the youngest ever champion in Formula 1 history in 2010. Vettel
started his career with BMW, then moved to Toro Rosso before finally moving to the team which he won the championship with.
Vettel had a very strong 2010 season. He had so many ups and downs in the season but he never gave up until the very end. He had crashes, problems with the car which caused him some vital points but he continued to work hard with his technicians and in the
final race at Yas Marina, he secured the title in fine style.
He had a strong fight with other title contenders including his teammate Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button of Mclaren. Coming to the last race, the Mclaren team was out of contention of the titles, therefore, he had
to fight for the title with his teammate and Fernando Alonso.
Vettel rates Michael Schumacher as a great racer and he grew up watching Schumacher race and wining seven titles. It was not long before the media started to compare Vettel with Schumacher and he was also named “Baby Schumi”, but Vettel doesn’t like the
comparisons to be made.
He has tremendous respect for Michael Schumacher and he wants to make his own name. One unique thing about Vettel is that he gives names to the cars he races for. Even though Vettel doesn’t like comparisons, he still has a lot of similarities to the seven
time champion Schumacher.
Both the drivers are from Germany and have been brought up in a very similar way. Both the champions had their first taste of racing at the same track. Sebastian Vettel is the only German driver other than Michael Schumacher to have won a Formula 1 championship.
Vettel would never have thought that he would be racing against Michael Schumacher for the title. When Vettel arrived in Formula 1 racing, Schumacher was at the end of his career. Little did everyone know that the veteran driver and the seven times World
Champion would make a surprise return to Formula 1 and compete against the younger drivers of the new era?
Vettel has got a positive start to his young career in Formula 1. He can capitalize on his start and go on to win as many titles as his favorite racing driver Schumacher did. He would have to fight his way to do so as there are many other drivers in the
lineup waiting for their title opportunity.
Even Michael Schumacher has returned to the sport with an aim of winning an eighth title. The coming year 2011 would not be easy for Sebastian Vettel as other teams would come hard in the next season.
He will need to be as focused and committed as he was in the 2010 season. The car would also play an important role to his chances of winning next year. Red Bull racing has provided its drivers a very strong car for 2010 and the team would be expecting the
same for the year 2011.
