Younis Khan may play in T20Is
Former Pakistan captain and middle-order batsman, Younis Khan has said he may consider playing in the T20Is. Younis had earlier retired from the T20Is at the end of the 2009 edition of the ICC World T20.
Younis was cleared for selection after he met up with the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128. He said he was a no-nonsense cricketer who was available to play for the side if the country wanted him to. Younis was selected in the limited overs team,
but it was not clarified by the chairman of national selectors, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319, whether he would be a part of the T20Is.
Younis said, "I am not that sort of a player who says I should be in Test matches or I should be in one-dayers or in Twenty20s,"
Younis was the captain of the Pakistani T20 side which won the ICC World T20 but retired soon after from the format, citing the need for a younger captain. He did play in domestic T20s in Pakistan and outside, but has since played in only ODIs and Tests for
Pakistan.
Speaking about his issues with the board, Younis said that all of it was in the past and that he had no regrets at missing out on representing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in the last six or seven months. He also said that he had spoken with the chairman and decided to move on.
He added, “I didn't want to end my cricket like that. If I say sorry it's not a big deal. I can't fight with the chairman, I can't fight with the board, as whatever I am is because of them. As far as discipline is concerned I have never been fined and everyone
knows me well."
Pakistan coach, Waqar Younis, welcomed the return of the experienced hand back into the side. He said that Younis Khan was fit enough to be a part of the side and would be an asset to the side.
