Younis Khan named in Pakistan squad
Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has been added to Pakistan’s ODI squad to face http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, ending an extended stand-off between the player and the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Younis has not played for his country since making just three in their two-wicket loss to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in a one-dayer in Perth during January, a defeat than completed a series whitewash for the hosts and left Pakistan two Twenty20 Internationals closer to what was to be a winless tour down under.
In the wash-up, Younis was one of a number of Pakistan players, including then Test captain Mohammad Yousuf, to incur the wrath of the PCB with both batsmen handed indefinite bans from playing for their country after an inquiry into the team’s woeful performance against the Aussies.
While the bridges between Yousuf and the PCB were rebuilt in time to allow the 36-year-old to rejoin the Pakistan squad during their summer Test series against England, where he reignited his Test career with a half century at The Oval, Younis remained on the outer.
But with Yousuf forced out of the forthcoming limited overs series against the Proteas with a muscle tear, and Pakistan needing to bolster their batting in his absence, the opportunity has now arisen for Younis to rekindle his international cricket career.
The decision to do so came following a meeting between 2009 World Twenty20 winning captain Younis and PCB chairman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033.
