Younis Khan willing to test his metal in T20
The outspoken flamboyant Pakistani Test cricketer Younis Khan, who retired from international T20 format after leading his side to a historic T20 World cup victory over a year ago, has once again left everyone in a state of shock
and awe by telling the press that he is willing to play for the country in any format of the game.
Even though, at this point in time, it probably seems like a good idea to include Younis Khan in all forms of cricket, it might not be a bright idea in the long run for Pakistan cricket. Such a step might backfire sooner than the
PCB high-ups think.
Younis’s larger than life status will certainly have its impact on the Test and One Day format of the game but it definitely will be a jaw breaker for the upcoming young talent in the T20 games.
Inclusion of Younis Khan will certainly be a step backwards for T20 cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahzaib-Hasan-c2488, Umar Akmal,
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 steering the Pakistani T20 batting squad, Younis Khan seems an unnecessary addition.
Earlier, just a day after getting himself cleared from the PCB and fixing his differences with the ever so powerful PCB Chairman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, Younis said if his fitness permits and his country needs him he will play in any form of
the game.
Though Younis Khan has shown his willingness and availability, but his selection in the T20 games is not guaranteed; he averages just over 25 in T20’s with a strike rate of 124.85, and since Younis Khan has not played top level
cricket for a considerably long time his form and fitness will definitely come under scrutiny. Having played his last One Day International in January at Perth, and not having played a Test since July last year, Younis needs to shun his critics in the One
day format of the game first, and then maybe he can prove his metal in T20.
Pakistan Team Coach Waqar Younis however welcomed Younis Khan’s return in the One Day side, hoping that Younis will be in top notch form and will bring due strength to the Pakistani batting lineup for the upcoming series against
rivals http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in UAE.
