Younis returns to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 team as Yousuf injures himself
Pakistan cricket fans finally had something to cheer about as the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board and former test captain Younis Khan bury their differences to prompt the comeback of the seasoned campaigner in the national team.
The announcement was expected after it was reported last week that Younis was set to call on the Chairman of the PCB at the headquarters of Pakistan cricket Lahore.
Finally the meeting took place today and the duo sorted out their differences, within a few hours Chairman of the national selection committee Moshin Khan announced in a press conference at the National Stadium in Karachi that the batsman has been included
in the team for the tour of UAE where the Pakistan team is scheduled to take on South Africa later this month.
He added that Younis was initially selected only for the ODI and T20 part of the series and would be drafted in the test squad after a careful assessment of his performances in the shorter formats of the game.
Younis was one of the seven Pakistani players that were either suspended or banned from international cricket after the disastrous tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 where the team lost all international matches.
His indefinite suspension was removed a couple of months later, yet the batsman was not drafted in the national team after it emerged that he was responsible for leaking the video recordings of the probe conducted by the disciplinary committee at the end
of the tour.
A source close to the PCB has later revealed that the Chairman of the governing body of the game in the country http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 had vowed never to include Younis in the team again. Which explained reason for his ouster from the team. It was more due to an ego
battle between him and Butt rather than his cricketing credentials.
But finally Butt relented and gave the clearance to the national selection committee amid growing speculation about his future at the helm.
Younis has an outstanding test record and is one of handful Pakistani players to average more than 50 runs in his test career.
He became only the third player from the country to score a triple hundred when he smashed 313 in the first test of the ill-fated series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 that was cut short due to the unfortunate terror attack on the visitors during the second test of that
series in Lahore.
Meanwhile http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 claimed at the press conference that Younis had taken back his retirement from T20 cricket and is keen on regaining his place in all three formats of the game.
Younis led Pakistan to their only World T20 title in England last year, and announced at the end of the tournament that he was retiring from the format.
Despite his success in England his captaincy tapered off amid rumours of infighting and grouping in the team that led to defeat in the Champions trophy in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 and an embarrassing ODI series defeat at the hands of New Zealand in UAE last November.
A distraught Younis relinquished the captaincy and chose not to travel to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 for the three match test series there. He was then excluded from the team that was whitewashed in the test format in Australia.
He was included in the ODI team on the same tour yet had a miserable time with the bat as the men in green went down 5-0.
