Anybody have any thoughts on a 2008 Kentucky Derby horse??

I'm thinking War Chant...but Pyro is strong too.

I just wish there would be a Triple Crown....

b/c it will have been 30 years this May.

  1. IDK, it is a little early. I like Court Vision with his pedigree. War Pass is talented but and great and I like him but IDK there may be an unstarted 2 yo race as a 3 yo and change our minds.

  2. I've got my eye on Turf War and Majestic Warrior. I want to see Macho Again run again. he had a rough race in his last one, and still ran pretty good.

  3. War Pass led wire to wire at the Breeder's Cup Juvenile and is undefeated so far. However,  some horses peak as two year olds and can't carry their form into the 3rd year. Also, the competition gets tougher when horses enter their three year old year because the 3 year olds are getting more experienced and stronger. War Pass looks good now but I don't know how he will be doing five months from now on the first Saturday in May. I am keeping my eye on Wicked Style.

  4. A lot can happen to horses preparing for the Derby many times the  ones that we select, never run for various reason, injury usual just preparing for the monent of the Derby.  I do like War Pass but the Derby is 5 months away and a lot can happen hopefully they will all be safe.

( War Chant is currently  a Stallion that ran in the 2000 Derby placed 10 th injured his shoulder healed up and came back and won the Breeder's Cup MIle at Churchill Down with a amazing from last to first it was one of the most exciting races I had seen, plus I took care of his mother ( Hollywood Wildcat ) his full sister ( Danzig Wildcat ) and his half brother ( Minister's Wildcat ) what beautiful line of horse breeding, plus I know the owners., lovely people.

  5. I think you mean War Pass, not War Chant - War Chant was in the 70s.

But, like everyone else stated, War Pass is definitely one to watch. He had an impressive romp at the Juvenile. However, juvenile winners don't win the Derby, with a huge exception with last year's Derby winner. Can lightning strike twice?

If not, Pyro had a remarkable come from behind bid at the Juvenile. So, those are 2 great names to watch. Then again, any stock from Secretariat or Seattle Slew always make me look twice.

I'll probably never love a horse as much as Barbaro, though. This was the first time since '87 that the horse I picked for the Derby didn't win ANY of the 3 races in the Triple Crown. None came close to Barbaro.

  6. I like War Pass, but I'm also keepin my eye on Ready's Image if he recovers well from his knee surgery :)

  7. Definetly war pass

  8. You should look @ War Pass he's very impressive.

  9. I really like Pyro.  I'm keeping my eye on him

  10. war pass, won't get beat by a horse who ran

as a 2 year old. maybe something else might

pop up in 2008 as a 3 year old......

  11. You heard it here first.  The 2008 Kentucky Derby winner will be Georgie Boy, winner of the 2007 Del Mar Futurity.

  12. I like War Chant better

  13. into mischief

  14. War Chant (pass) is very good choice.

  15. Looking at my favorite breeding website, which I use to help handicap horses with....these 3 on paper stand out:

    Alaazo

    Dr. Nick

    Halo Najib

Each of their chef-de-race points closely resemble the recent patterns of winning horses in the Derby.  I noticed after the fact that Dr.Nick and Halo Najib are both trained by Dale Romans, and owned by the Zayat Stables, so they may be onto something in 2008.

  16. War Pass
