I'd love the hear about you guys, and your first Snowboarding Experience! How was it? Did you fall often (like me)? Did you give up? Have you now become "Lord of the Boards"?

I recognize that snowboarding isn't for everyone, but props to everyone who's tried it at least once!,

  1. Hahaha, the first time I went was hilarious, but frustrating at the same time. My best friend took me with her and she took me on the bunny slopes. I was freaking out on the way up on the ski lift, but I was so excited. I ended up falling so many times, but no wipe outs. The 2nd time down the bunny slopes I finally got the hang of it. After that, I was doing fine for the rest of the day. I felt bad though because I thought I was kinda ruining it for my best friend because she had to keep waiting for me every time I fell. But it's all good now, I can keep up with her.

    I love snowboarding.

  2. I started snowboarding last year with group lessons--one of those 3 lesson packages some places have. Did I fall a lot? I did, but it really wasn't too bad (probably less than average). I didn't end up too sore afterwards. I loved snowboarding from the first day and now go once or twice a week. I'm getting better each time, but I wouldn't say I'm good yet.

  3. the first time i went snowboarding i was like 7 and i always watched my brothers and i looked up to them very much and wanted to be just like the one so one day I took his snow board (we have a hill in our back yard) and i practiced for hours and hours till i could  do it without falling then begged them to take me with them.

  4. I was 35 years old and my kids wanted to learn - I volunteered as a weekend instructor and they taught me how to teach - I've been teaching kids for 7 years now.

My first time was a little rough, but by the third time I was riding without falling on the easy runs and having a great time - been riding ever since.

    Good Luck

  5. have fun sittin on the bunny slopes. lol

  6. Just had mine yesterday. It was so awesome. I had a great time.

  7. NOp... I was a natural. I fell like once or twice.  I was good with balance ever since I was a kid. I loved to skate, then surfn now wake boarding. They all come hand in hand.

If you need help, just stay on your edges. Back and forth. There is a happy medium. Like tip-toe.. you’ll figure it out.

O and those beginner slopes just make you fall. You don’t get momentum to stay up. You need speed.

    Good luck

  8. ooooh boy.

    greaaat memories.

    naat.

    lost my tooth..

    couldn't sit for days..

    ahaha bunny hilll!...

    aaaand suuper frustrating.

    :)

  9. I went with some of my guy friends who are all very good.  I am like one of the guys, and they treat me like one of the guys.  I had no sympathy.

It was my first time ever on a mountain, so it was easy to trick me.

They lied, and told me an intermediate slope was the bunny slope.  I was crashing like crazy.  I kept saying to them, "there must be a real bunny slope, this can't be the bunny slope!"

By the end of the day they were taking me on blacks, and kept yelling at me to keep up.  My pride wouldn't let me admit it was too hard for me, and wouldn't let me go too slow.  I had some pretty good wrecks that day.

I was so tired and beat up by the end of the day that a ski patrol guy actually came up to me and asked if I wanted a ride to the lodge on his snowmobile.  I ended the day with a ton of bruises, and a black eye.  The next day I literally had to get my head out of bed by lifting it up by my hair!

Its a wonder I ever went again, let alone fall in love with the sport.
