Question:

Your Thoughts On Borg The Person?

He seems really smug and hates anybody saying somebody's better than him.

Anyone else notice this? Just like his flip flop at Wimbledon, did anyone see Borg's face as the match went to five sets? All he could remember is him losing soundly to McEnroe in 4 I bet ya.

The guy thinks he's one of the greats but if he was he would have stuck around longer, he even has said he retired because he didn't want to be known as a good contender but as a favorite, in other words he got tired of losing at the U.S. Open, he snubbed the Aussie Open EVERY YEAR outside of once when he was 18.

Guy never smiles, only when he's complimented, and that's a maybe.

I don't know how anybody could respect him, watch 2009 come as Borg states Nadal's losing his edge on clay.

Did you know Borg personally thanked Roger Federer in 2001 for beating Sampras? Know why???

Man has no class.

  1. Yea I have totalllly noticed that !!!!! He does look smug but you know what he prefers nadal and dj.... over federer... how mean. He's like oh federere is my third fave... i mean c'mon federer is pretty good too

  2. Finally more and more people are realizing what a shameful, classless idiot this guy really is. In tennis he is rated up as one of the best ever to play the sport. However over these last couple years of this Federer/Nadal dominance over tennis, Borg has truly revealed himself to be one of the worst people to come out of the sport.

I first started noticing his attitude last year when it appeared that Roger was closing in on his long standing 5 consecutive Wimbledon titles. At the time he tried to pull the "I am humble and happy that Roger might break my record", but you could just tell that he was hoping and perhaps praying that Roger loses before the final. Then when Roger did in fact beat Nadal in that 5th set, the look on Borg's face was priceless. It was so obvious that he was pissed off!!!

Then at this years French Open, all throughout the tournament, watching him give interviews and looking at his facial expressions when Rafa did in fact equaled his 4 consecutive French Opens, again it was blatantly obvious that he was soo pissed off that Rafa had won.

Furthermore when he proclaimed that Djokovic was going to win Wimbledon at the start of the tournament... well that about did it for me. Clearly the guy cares more about his pathetic records than what people thinks of him. And in that case he is definitely not someone that I admire in anyway anymore.

To add insult to injury was when I heard that other a*****e of tennis, John McEnroe complimented Borg on how well he has been handling Roger and Rafa breaking his records. Give me a freaking break!!!

They maybe considered the greatest in the game but clearly they both have no sense of class!!!

Borg congratulated Roger in 2001 for beating Pete Sampras, because in that year (2001) Sampras was aiming to win his 5th consecutive Wimbledon title, which would have equaled Borg's record.

  3. Did Borg really say that Nadal's losing his edge on clay?  Where did you see this?  Is he delusional?  How could he say this after Roland Garros?  Maybe he just meant that Rafa is now focusing on other courts aside from clay.  Still I doubt that Rafa's giving up on clay.  Rafa on clay is as sure as the sun rising in the east.

  4. Yep looks like you got him pegged too. Like I said before. He will not want to have Rafa beat his French record just like he didn't want Roger to beat his Wimby record so he will try to jinx Rafa by saying that Rafa is loosing his edge before next year's French. Rafa is more mentally tough than Roger so it may not bother him like it did Roger when Borg said Rafa was going to beat Roger and win Wimby this time.

Yeah he had a drug problem then wanted to sell all his trophies which Mc and Jimbo talked him out of and ended up giving him some cash to help him through a tough stint a few years back. Why the h**l doesn't he just play some Masters events if he needs cash and believes that he is so d**n good. Right?

Yeah he was glad Sampras didn't tie him but now jinxed Roger so that he wouldn't beat him.

As for the AO the Aussies never really liked Borg since they had a tonne of male talent down under and he didn't want to go down and risk loosing and looking foolish.

  5. Yeah, i noticed that too even though he's my idol ever since...but we have to understand that Bjorn is just like you and me, mere mortals who makes mistakes all the time...the idea of his records getting broken is an achievement in itself....we must all realize that no sports record is permanent, they are there to be equalled or surpassed....

  6. aries,

No. Borg said it before RG. It's when Rafa almost lost to Roger in Hamburg.

    About Borg,

I actually understand why he thinks that way because he wanted to be known as one of the greatest by holding those records maybe for a century. It's a great accomplishment that's why these current players are competing for those records too.

But i don't like the way he acts. He should know that it is beyond his control... one day, a better player than him will break his precious records! The way i see it, he must be so relieved and overjoyed that Rafa stopped Roger for taking his 6th. Come Roland Garros, and he'll be praying someone will beat Rafa for his 5th.
