Your Veiws on Straight, Bi, and g*y (College Soc. Class Question)?

Ok, I am taking soc. at my school and our class is having a discussion on Sexual Orientation. I just want to see if people understand what I am going to say, and perhaps, add to it to help me. Thanks!

My views on it is that everyone have two numbers and everyone would be Bi. This would eliminate the WHOLE g*y or STRAIGHT issue within school and jobs. They have a "g*y" Number and a "straight" number. The g*y or straight number cannot = 0 or have negative number and for the sake of this example the lowest number cannot be below 0.1 . Both Number must total 100%. So if someone has a g*y number of 0.1 then their straight number must be 99.9. Because of this way, you could eliminate g*y/straight bashing.

Why is everyone Bi?: At one point in life, a guy has tried to see another guys package, would that be a sorta g*y act, right? You TRY to see it, so you know what you are doing. Girls, also compare breast. I have heard of girls grabbing each other, just to see what it is like. g*y Act?

  1. that acutally sounds good. I like it its a nice idea.

  2. In response to ouragon's post, this has definitely already been done, and as she correctly put it.  It was Alfred Kinsey.  (the link below shows a graphical representation of this.

Read the attached link too, it gives an insight into the Kinsey Reports (pretty boring bedtime reading but hey should show you know what you're talking about!)

  3. Someone already addressed this issue sociologically, but I can't remember who. It might be Masters and Johnson, maybe Kinsey. You'll have to research that. Anyway, their premise is that sexuality exists along a continuum, from 100% hetero to 100% homo, with all the shades and degrees of bisexuality in between. I think your premise that EVERYONE is bisexual is flawed, because, well, not everyone is. Some people are totally straight and some are totally g*y. Some are curious about the same s*x but would never act on it, some (like a lot of girls seem to be doing lately) would behave in a bisexual manner to truly attract the attention of a same-s*x partner. Think girls kissing at a party to give the attendant boys the idea that they are more sexually free and available than might otherwise be thought. That's not bisexual. So, I think you might get shot down on your idea. You might want to try to find the research I'm talking about and formulate a premise based on that research.

EDIT: Also, a g*y act does not define someone as a homosexual. See my example about the girls kissing, for example.

EDIT #2: I got so cuiour I looked this up myself. All the research is detailed at :

I THINK I MIGHT DESERVE THE BEST ANSWER FOR THIS...

  4. I agree with the previous poster who mentioned Kinsey and Masters and Johnson.

Do your self a favor and don't mention your proof of "why is everyone Bi."  The material in that paragraph simply isn't academic or correct.  Have some knowledge of the research of the "Kinsey Reports."

If you have some time rent the 2004 movie "Kinsey."  That movie will inform you, possibly entertain you, but definitely get you ready for your class discussion.

  5. I think I have discovered one of the reasons we are not at the top of the education ladder.

  6. What a waste of time.

  7. I do not believe that a "g*y" act is inductive or promotes homosexually, especially among young people...experimentation is a healthy aspect of maturation

  8. I could care less how people think, or what they wish to be as long as they don't whine for special treatment. The one thing that gets me is some people strive for preferential treatment.

I think that if the bible cannot be allowed to be taught in schools then stick to the basics. Since when did homosexuality get seniority over Jesus?

I don't believe in bisexuality. To me, you're g*y or your not. Now that may be narrow minded to many but how can a person be half g*y and half straight? Makes no sense. I'm sure I'll get thumbs down for this because I don't agree and someone will call me prejudiced. It's my right as an American to agree/disagree. But I won't hate you for it. I won't hate you for how you choose to be.
