Your best cake recipe?

I'm going to a party tomorrow and I need to make a cake. Any kind or flavor I just need some really good recipes so I can make up my mind. What is your favorite cake recipe?

Heres a quick and easy cake to make in the summer. It always gets rave reviews. Buy a angel food cake. Make 2 cups of whip topping and crush crispy crunch bars (4or5) and add to whip topping. Cover cake with topping. It is DELICIOUS!!

My favorite - Super Lemon Cake.

Use a lemon cake mix (yellow if you can't find lemon).  Add a package of lemon pudding mix, 4 eggs, the amount of oil called for on the box, and substitute lemon soda (Sprite) for the water called for on the box.  Bake as directed (I like to use a Bundt pan).

If you really, REALLY like lemon, add a glaze - 1 tsp. lemon extract (or 1 Tbsp lemon juice), 2 cups of powdered sugar, and enough water to make it the right consistency (it won't be much, add it maybe a teaspoon at a time).  Drizzle over the cake.

Serve chilled.  It's awesome!

Decadent Chocolate Bundt Cake.

1 package devils food cake mix(18.25 ounce box)

1 package instant chocolate pudding

4 eggs

1 Cup sour cream

1/2 Cup water

1 Cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Grease and flour a  bundt pan

Cake:

In a large mixing bowl combine cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, and water.  Beat on med. speed for 2 minutes.  Stir in chocolate chips.  Spread evenly in pan.  Bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until it tests done.  Cool for 20 min in pan on wire rack, then remove cake from pan and cool completely.

Frosting;

2/3 Cup chocolate chips, Melted

1/3 Cup sour cream

Combine chocolate chips and sour cream, stirring until smooth.  Spread over cake.  Cool to let frosting set.

(I pour frosting in a plastic bag and cut the corner and let the frosting drizzle out of the bag.)

For both the cake and the frosting you can use semi sweet chips or milk chocolate chips, or any of the other flavored chips.

Don't tell anyone, but I cheat. Add 2 mashed bananas and 1 teaspoon baking soda to a regular yellow cake mix. Frost with cream cheese frosting. It tastes awesome, like you worked on it all day.
