  1. The Honda CB 750 4.  The engines were virtually bulletproof.

A friend of mine had one that had run well over 100,000 miles and would still run well. The handling is not up to todays standards, of course, but for someone that wants an old classic Honda motorcycle, the CB 750-4 is a good choice.

The CB 350-4?  I rode on of these when I was in New Zealand. Not overly powerful (given the cubic capacity output) but smooth. Handling was average. Over the two, I would  pick the CB 750-4 hands down!

  2. I know parts are not east to find but the mid 80's V65 & V45 magna's are a lot of fun to rebuild, just having 3-4 parts bikes to make one good one takes up a lot of space and lots of time selling them off on ebay.

  3. I think a 1970's CB350 would be a good choice.  There were a lot made (although not sure what makes the four different) and parts seem to be plentiful in old bikes and some manufacturers.  They also have a nice look. Go to ebay and do a search for them and you will get an idea of what is out there.

  4. I'd go with a Pre-'79 CB750.

  5. I'm not familiar with the 350 - 4. I liked the 450 - 4 a lot.

The 650 was sluggish by comparison, but it was heavier.

There are a ton of 750s out there. While the 750 is bigger, it doesn't have to be set up as a touring bike.

Out of these, I would go with the 450 for the riding you describe.

Problem is, I don't know the parts availability for the 450.

I was able to get factory gaskets for the 650 at a dealership 2-3 years ago.

  6. Ive only had one and its an 84 magna, and have been looking for parts. Ebay has some and anthony I ran onto this site the other day seems to have alot of parts for our bikes. http://216.37.204.206/Mcmart/Honda_OEM/H...

    Heres another one. http://www.oldbikebarn.com/?leadsource=M...

  7. Accordnig to what you want to use the bike for makes a difference. There are a lot of vintage Goldwings, a resonable # of old 750 4 cyl.and some CBR's. First decide if you want a touring bike, a customized (lots of the 750-4's have been or are good for doing that) or do you just want a bike to ride to and from work and around your area. Tourning, get a vintage GoldWing, heavy road bike or customizer, get the 750-4,  for misc. use get an older CBR, a Nighthawk, or 80's Shadow, most of the latter are plentiful and you can find parts easily.
