Your favorite CURRENT boxer?

I'm the type of person who dislikes boxers like Mayweather because of their LACK of Action. They talk too much and at the end they don't back their s**t up.

My favorite current boxer is Miguel Cotto. He gives exciting performances and has proven to be one of today's best. In my opinion, I think that if the fight between Cotto and Mayweather happens, it will be a big disappointment. I've read some answers, and it seems like I'm not the only one who thinks this way. Mayweather is not going to trade punches, so he will make it a boring fight.

Mayweather will win by points.

  1. Mayweather all day the fight might get ugly at times but at the end of the day your job is to win.He has great d,quick reflex, accurate shots and the haters to watch him do it...for the cotto fans it`s just matter of time when floyd goes to Madison square garden and teaches cotto this...it` not how hard you hit or if you have a good chin...but it`s how you make a person miss and pin point shots to your opponents DOME.Roy Jones in UFC lol about a hopkins rematch you B**CH!Oscar go fight some roosters in Tijuana or sing some banda in downtown L.A.Peace

  2. Either Manny Pacquiao or Joel Julio

  3. Yeah u right about some of Mayweather fights is not exciting but until somebody knocks him off his throne.....then he's the man....of course his fight is not as good as roy jones jr was but he's the man right now..and to answer the comment about Cotto.....I think it would be a great fight because Cotto is not gonna wait and he brings that power that breaks bodies down. but i do think Mayweather would win due to quickness.

  4. Shane Mosley, Chad Dawson

  5. MAYWEATHER his boy is 50 he gets money $$$$$$$$

  6. paquiao all the way

  7. I like Fernando Montiel, he is a very skilled fighter with slick moves and good pop. He is exciting to watch and very masterful. Mayweather, regardless of how good or bad people think he is, to me is boring to watch. Now I don't want to just see to brutes going at it I like real skill with power to boot like a Israel Vasquez who is another very good fighter.

Top Prospects in California to keep an eye on in no order,

    Abner Mares - 118 pounds - 16W - 0L (10 ko's)

Good boxing skills, no real power but becoming a really good boxer under the tutelage of Nacho. Has a small title but will hold a major title by the end of the year.

    Michael "Lil Warrior" Franco - 115 pounds - 10W-0L (7 ko's)

Good boxing skills, speed & brain numbing power in both hands. Another year & this kid will be very well known, in two years, top dog in his division.

    Urbano Antillon - 130 pounds - 22W-0L (15 ko's)

Gets hit a lot but can box when he needs to but likes to beat down his opponents. Good boxer when he chooses to, not very fast but has good pop and is very intelligent inside the ring. Exciting to watch and is another future prospect/title holder

  8. mayweather is out soley for the money

    i like hatton

  9. My favorite fighter is Kelly The Ghost Pavlik,  every fight this guys in is full of anxiety and action, a guy with his power and a guy that has his devastating one punch KO ability should be exciting.  HE goes into the ring with the same game plan, back you up and knock you out, hes got nothin flashy dosent run, he just is a throwback fighter that stands there and its gonna be a knockout for u or him, but not many guys could punch like pavlik.  So that is why i like kelly pavlik as my favorite fighter.  I agree with you about mayweather.

  10. roy jones jr. and Lennox Lewis are my two current favorite boxers.

  11. I really wish folks would take the time to admire what Mayweather brings to the ring.  What's so bad about the subtleties of boxing?  I don't particularly care for Floyd's act, but what he does in the ring is pure athletic artistry.  When folks like you go on and on about guys like Mayweather, you fail to realize what the rules of boxing are about:  bringing stylistic variety into the ring.  If all boxing was judged on was aggression, every d**n fight would resemble Ricky Hatton vs. Ricky Hatton.  The prelim fights would resemble Ricky Hatton vs. Ricky Hatton, the Main Event would resemble Ricky Hatton vs. Ricky Hatton.  Every fight, and every fighter would be virtual clones of each other, in other words: BORING.  What's so bad about having different approaches to win a fight?  Nothing in my book.  So stop being like one of those NASCAR fans praying for a high speed collision in the hopes of Jeff Gordon's decapitated head landing in your lap.

Variety is the spice of life, hombre.  And you're missing out on a lot of flavor.

Kelly Pavlik is my fave current boxer and he has the opportunity to bring about a real renaissance for middleweight boxing.  They way he demolished Taylor was something we haven't seen in a very long time.

Mayweather knocks out Cotto.  Cotto is too slow, he'll be like a turtle with a knife attacking a rabbit with an uzi.

  12. Money Mayweather WInky Wright and Hopkins

  13. Mayweather

  14. I know I won't get best answer, but it is a fun question.

I am going to easily 100% hands down say "Pretty Boy" Floyd "Money" Mayweather. The dude is just way too cool.

People talk c**p about his WWE stint. He loves to watch pro wrestling. If you had a chance to be involved in WWE wouldn't you take it? He was just having a good time. Alot of boxing fans bought Wrestlemania. Alot of wresting fans saw that and will see him box in the future.

It is a great cross over that brings new fans into boxing. I got into boxing in 1995. Tyson got out of prison and returned, I watched that, and thought it was really cool. I began to watch boxing alot and get older tapes and analize styles. I really love boxing and it started with Mike Tyson. Maybe a young WWE fan will see Floyd and become a boxing fan.

He did Dancing with the Stars" too. Same thing could be said there as I did with WWE. He is a massive self-permoter. But with in promoting himself, he brings people to boxing.

I don't think any other current fighter can say that.

As far as a fight with Cotto. Dude, Cotto needs Mayweather, Mayweather does not need Cotto. When Mayweather beats him, people will talk the same jazz. I was #3 at one point on here on an old account. You have no idea how many best answers I got defending "Money". I knew De La Hoya would lose. He can't beat Shane, he barely handled an old Pernell. DLH can't handle Mayweather's style. And Ricky "I Never Fought Anybody" Hatton, please.

You need to remember, boxing is NOT about running in and punching people. There are fans (I am one) who love to see the gracefulness of a fight. Pernell Whitaker is one of my favorite boxers. Some guys don't really have that KO power. Mayweather's KO record is not too bad.

I think Floyd gets a raw deal. But with his cross promotions, he brings in new fans. And his attitude makes people buy PPV's to either see him kick butt, OR get his butt kicked. Either way, it brings new blood into a sport I love that needs new fans.

And that my friend, is why Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s is my favorite current boxer.

  15. My Favorite boxer (Miguel Cotto) the he is the man!!

  16. my favourite boxer today is floyd mayweather cuz he is simply the best out there, thats what he proved! he is gonna beat cotto if they fight, but that won't prove that floyd is the best cuz he already proved that against some other great fighters like corrales, judah, castillo n the list goes, so cotto won't be his biggest achievment as some people would say, and this (lack of action) thing , mayweather is the smartest fighter out there today, he can hit without getting hit, thats smart boxing many people don't appreciate the talent he got by saying he is running ! he is just too good that he can't get hit and thats not his fault, so he is my favourite boxer today

  17. I really understand what Elmer_Fuddstein's  opinion is, but like he said, Variety is the SPICE of life. You can't expect everybody to like Mayweather or De La Hoya or Cotto. Different boxers, different styles. I like the kind of boxer that gives exciting performances. Boxing is ALL about ENTERTAINMENT and most people watch boxing because they want to see two fighters like Barrera and Morales stand there and fight. They don't want to see a guy blocking or moving back and winning by a decision. Mayweather has always been accused of being a boring fighter.  He is always saying that he is an Entertainer, and that bothers me because he has never done anything to entertain INSIDE the ring.

My favorite boxer used to be De La Hoya, now I am a very big fan of Cotto.

  18. its tough for me, but here are some of my favorites floyd mayweather jr, oscar de la hoya, winky wright, bernard hopkins, joe calzaghe, ricky hatton, jermain taylor, and kelly pavlik.

  19. Pacquiao because of his excitement..

    Mayweather for his skills..

    and

    Pavlik for his power.
