In the Northern Pacific region..... I heard this area is a little drier since we will be traveling down there in October. I was looking into Barcelo Tambor resort but it's like 4 hours from San Jose Airport. We wanted to cut some of our commute time so we are thinking of flying into Liberia. Anyone been to any resorts/hotels in the North Pacific region? It's hard to tell how they actually are just by going online and looking at pictures.

Looked at the Flamingo beach, Langosta beach and a few others.

I'm interested in the Playa Paradisus... looks really nice, but is it really worth an extra grand?

Going on a honeymoon so I'm not traveling with children.

  1. Since you are going on a honeymoon you MUST go to Paradisus Playa Conchal. It's an all suite all-inclusive resort. That mean that you can eat or drink  everything you want in almost 10 restaurants they have. If you want to spend a little extra, get the Royal Service.

Another good choice for honeymoon is Hacienda Pinilla. It is a lot quieter that paradisus but I think it is a plus. Hacienda Pinilla is in front of a beach near Tamarindo.

You should fly to Liberia because Costa Rican roads are a mess, although it may be more expensive. You can fly to San Jose and then fly with sansa or nature air to Liberia or Tamarindo.

    Hope i helped

  2. Barcelo has a resort in Langosta Beach, on the Nicoya Peninsula which will cut your travel time if you are going to fly into Liberia.  To be honest, the pictures don't do the place justice.  When my wife and I were there, the service was incredible, the food fresh, the staff courteous and friendly, the rooms were big and had all the amenities, the activities were fun....it was everything that we had expected and more.  And that's just the hotel.  You can walk up and down the beach, and you will find secluded spots where you and your new bride can get to know one another and spend quality time together and alone.  The water will be around 80 degrees. You will almost feel as if you own the beach.  I mean, how much more does anyone need?  Oh!  And you can contact the hotel and make arrangements for them to go pick you up at the airport!

The only downside that I see is that if you are coming this time of the year, it is still the rainy season.  The area that Barcelo Langosta Beach is in does transition a bit sooner into the dry season, but you can still expect rain.  It may not be as much as in other places, but you never know with Costa Rica.  I once went to Barcelo Tambor and it rained for the four days we were there.  But that's not to say that spending wonderfully rainy days with your wife doesn't have its charm either.

Added to all that is the fact that it is the off season.  Less tourists, less Ticos, more time to yourself and your wife.

  3. You are going to have a ball my husband and I just retired in Costa Rica and in 2 years we have gone 2 x's just for a get away .

    enjoy your vacation (honeymoon)

  4. theres a few all inclusive hotels but, in my opinion, i love Barceló Playa Langosta, is very quiet and have excelent food, white sand beach, clean, etc etc

also try Barceló Playa Tambor they have some activities for guests an also have very good food, but i dont like the beach so much.

i dont like best westerns food

  5. If its your honeymoon, you will be disappointed with Langosta - or Tambor for that matter -  just normal, moderate hotels, nothing special...food ok (fine for a family trip or with friends, but for honeymoon?) -

Paradisus is worth the upgrade - it's a once in a lifetime -

rooms are all suites, many restaurants to choose from, pool is awesome!!

I do not recommend the Occidental hotels, they were shut down by the government in march for dumping sewage in the ocean - I don't go for that!

    Enjoy your honeymoon...Be Blessed!
