I like the American's, I think their generally really warm, hospitable people.

But as an English person..

I have never met an immigrant I didn't like.  If you actually KNOW immigrants you realize they have amazing life stories which make the average "American" seem like they have been living a cake-walk.

The Irish.  They have wonderful foods that are often overlooked, and great senses of humor.  I think it is one culture that is vastly misunderstood because of decades old stereotypes.  For example, many people do not realize the advances that Ireland has made with software and computers.

Lol, I'm an immigrant from Russia ,now living in Malta.

If I could say one thing that people should know , don't believe the crazy stereotypes about alcoholics and prostitutes and mafia , and don't believe everything your media tells you about us,our country, our politics , and our government!

Considering other immigrants - I like some of the English , and I like the Germans. I also like my fellow Russians and Ukrainians (lol). I like all the immigrants, actually. They're just much more interesting people than the locals, and much smarter.

I am Chinese immigrant to US.  Schools with Chinese outscore other schools. Chinese profs. in universities had higher percentages than their populations. Chinese won more gold medals than any other countries, inluding US. We will rule and outperform others in this world.

Native born American & son of an immigrant.

My favorite immigrant is anyone who comes here to make a better life for themselves & contribute to their new home as they do it.

The ones who  try to learn the language quickly, assimilate into mainstream society, earn citizenship & all the freedoms & obligations that go with it.

The ones who can enrich a community by sharing their experience & customs as a way of  us understanding their culture while they try to understand ours.

The ones that obey the laws of the land, who do not come here illegaly & expect  handouts.

The ones who do not hyphenate as some natural born citizens do but just say I am an American now .

Had a friend from the UK who lived & worked all over the world & had travelled to more places in the US than I ever will.

I remember his comment when I asked about his experiences around the world & what he thought of the US.

He said America is unique & is the greatest country in the world ........if you are willing to become an American.

That says it all.

I know several Indian immigrants.  Law abiding.  Family oriented.   Smart, smart smart.  Their culture emphasizes education, achievement.

PS--I have yet to meet an Indian that is a high school drop out, that has given birth to illegitimate children, or who doesn't speak English in America.  I'm just saying............
