Your favorite non-star NHLer of all-time?

Do you have a guy that you like/liked despite the fact that they may have been only an average player, or even a poor one?

I've got a few of them, but I'm curious to see the choices of others.

  1. Everett Sanipass as he's a personal friend I know his family pretty well

also Donald Audette, Espen Knutsen, Andrew Cassells, Lyle Odelein, Gino Odjick and Jean Jacques Daigneault .. could go on for awhile but I gotta get to my homework

Done with my Math homework = in current players Petr Sykora is very underrated

tabarnak I forgot Philippe Bozon - first NHLer born in France (like my dad) .. gotta put in my "deux centimes" for him :)

Robert just my 2 cents .. they were not deemed superstars much to our mutual dismay but they were stars. A better player for the survey would be someone like Sylvain Cote for instance.

  2. Tony Tanti, Hakan Loob, Harold Snepsts

  3. Mike Johnson!!!!!!!!!

  4. I love Love Love Love Kari Lehtonen i collect his hockey cards he is wonderful to me and such a sweety on and off the ice always good to his fans. I'm also a fan of Moose ( Johan Hedberg )

  5. Adam Graves was probably my all-time favorite, but I'd say he was above average for a good portion of his career.

So i'll go with some Whaler greats.

Kevin Dineen, Geoff Sanderson, Darren Turcotte, and Pat Verbeek.

  6. I've always liked Christian Ehrhoff.

  7. Liked Jason Williams when the Wings had him. Also love the entire Grind Line (Maltby, McCarty, Draper), even though they were (are)  normally Detroit's 3rd or 4th line. And Jiri Fischer had to leave before he became a big star, but he was sure rising so I don't know if that counts either.

  8. Mike Gartner  NHL Totals Games-1432 Goals-708 Assts.-627 Totals-1335  not too bad!!! but I would also agree with Ron Francis Great player, and from what I've read a even better human. Not a great scorer but I have always liked Adam Graves.Being from Detroit it was a very sad day when they let him go.And another who spent time here was Adam Oats.I'm sure I will think of others.

  9. Marcel Goc and Tom Preissing

  10. Hal Gill.  Something about that guy I've always liked.

  11. Tony Amonte.

Too bad he was horrible in calgary. He only got EN goals :(, most of the time.

  12. Terry O'Reilly

  13. #85 Petr Klima. Was my favorite back in 1985 when he joined the Red Wings, Went on to win a Stanley Cup with the Edmonton Oilers, played with Tampa, LA and Pittsburg. Klima was fast and had awesome talent. He was never really recognized for what he could do.

  14. It has to be Adam Deadmarsh. It broke my heart when the Avs traded him.

  15. Stan Jonathan, Lyndon Byers, Jay Miller, Bruce Shoebottom and P.J. Stock.

  16. Martin Straka, Jimmy Paek, Kevin Stevens, Ian Moran (what ever happened to Ian anyway?)

Ron  Francis is a star player, Hall-of-famer so I cannot list him on here as a non-star.

  17. this guy is a star but they dont talk bout him much ron francis. he won 2 stanley cups and is 4th on the all time scoring list and u never hear bout him. in my opinion the nhl talks a little too much bout gretzky

  18. Haken Loob

  19. I agree about Ron Francis, also like Joe Mullen(in part because he was a backround player). Never felt like Marty Straka really got the respect he deserved either and always liked him. Now to be fair none of them were really just average, they are just aren't big names as far as stars.

  20. Gerard Gallant & Vladimir Konstantinov -  2 guys with a lot of heart!
