i was watchin the roast as you do on ya sunday n they were discussin possible new rules for nrl.

i reckon if you score from a kick the goal conversion should be worth 1 point or 0 cause at the end of every set halfbacks just kick for their wingers it gets boring and there is no 5th tackle variations.

you got any rules??

  1. HAVING A BIFF ALL IN GOOD FUN.

  2. not sure....AFL RULEZ

  3. The Pusing In The Scrum Rule I liked That

  4. Shouldn't complain too much about kicking, there were  tries scored from kicks pre limited tackle football just not as many.

As far as rule changes, the only change I would bring in is to make it a contest to win the ball in the scrum, the play the ball and the tackle. This lack of competing for the ball is what makes the game so stereotyped. Look at rugby, you can compete for the ball all over the field.

  5. only two rule changes needed 1. live scrums 2. play the ball should be simplified. ref should say held and play the the ball. no need to complicate a simple action and if they don't get off penalise until they start to.

  6. 1. No scrums - what a joke they have become

    2. If dummy half is caught with the ball, change of possession

    3. If the ball is kicked across the opponents goal line (doesn't matter whether its on the full or not) and the ball is grounded, dead in goal or whatever by the defending team - back to halfway for a restart.

    4. Time is stopped when a try is scored or a penalty shot at goal is taken until play resumes - that way we get 80 minutes and not 65 mins

    5. 5 points for a try

    6. How about trialling 25 minute quarters instead of 40 minute halves

    7. Unlimited interchange

  7. New Rule should be, Send off referee if he is **** in the first half..

  8. The cross field kick is a technical part of the game as it calls for pinpoint accuracy as well as timing by wingers and outside backs.

I would prefer to see scrums go back to the way they were, otherwise just make it a change over.....scrums mean nothing know player's don't even pack properly anymore

  9. either time off for all scrums(not just the ones with 10mins left and you have a halfback & 5/8 as props) or no time off for any scrums.

  10. axe the video reff, and have 2 on field reffs (1 offencive 1 deffencive) or have 4 touch judges instead of 2, as the poor buggers cant keep up and come the end of each half they miss forward passes and genral errors, most likly from fatige!

oh and 1 other new rule........ ban gus gould from coming within 20km of a rugby league field!

  11. Yea, Scrums - what's the point of them. I think the most stupid thing I see in a game is seeing a ref wasting time by blowing up a scrum & making them repack it whilst giving the players coaching into how to pack a scrum - what's the f'ing point of that! The ball is fed into the 2nd row anyway !!

But for a rule change how about scrapping scrums altogether and & replacing it with a chicken scratch like we used to have as kids playing in the backyard. For those who don't know what I'm talking about it's where the ball is placed on the ground, a player from each side stands over the ball facing each other bent over at the waist with their legs spaced apart and hands behind their back, the halfbacks of each side a couple metres behind their relevant player.

When the ref says GO the players attempt to rake for the ball with their hands and try to flick the ball between their legs to their half.

It would be quick and simple and remove that timewaster of an excuse for a scrum and reintroduce a genuine contest for the ball.

  12. As a referee, I think that the shoulder charge should be outlawed across all forms of league in Australia. It is by far the most dangerous legal move in the game, it damages the tackler's shoulder and can seriously injure the ball carrier.

Even when I was playing I hated people who shoulder charged and one of my mates dislocated his shoulder with a "perfect" shoulder charge.

  13. Yeah they gotta do something about the scrums the current laws make them pointless - change the name from scrum to "lean" (not original). Everybody knows they are just a parody of what the scrums where. If the scrums are competed for then the fatigue of the forwards become important.  A game could be won or lost depending how fatigued the forwards of a team is.

The other thing is scrap the referee repeatedly calling "move it" after every fricken tackle.  If a player is tackled then if the tackler doesn't get off him immediately, penalise him or yellow card him if he's repeat offender.

  14. There should be a thing like tennis the opposing side has 1 challenge a half and if they waist it on a strip or something then they can’t use it for any tries the ref rules on etc

  15. that rule sukd

this would convince teams to not kick the footy to score and that wud take away awesome trys like folau's and inglis etc.

all these new rules comin in are ruining the game.

i say get rid of the rule where they always go upstairs to check for a strip wen theres a knock on. if the ref makes a call, go along with it and get on with the game.

if there had to be a new rule tho it wud be a limit on video refs.

so say refs cud only go to the video ref a max of 3 times a game so the game is a lot quicker.
