Your opinion of Chicago....?

Question

I was just curious to know from all the people who live in or have lived in Chicago what is your opinion

So many people say they hate it because of the cold weather/winds but is it really that bad? How long are the worst part of winters?

I've never been there...I'm going in 8 days though!

My dad's traveled to a bunch of places around the world for work, and he says he loves Chicago. It does get very cold though. My brother's going there for college, and when him and my dad went to see the school in January, they were talking about how cold it was and people who live in the city were saying how warm it was!

My brother's also not really one to wear a winter jacket, and my mom's making him wear one. She hasn't even been there and she knows from what my dad says...and my dad will wear shorts outside in a blizzard (I'm not even exaggerating!)

All in all though, my dad says it's a great city. He loves it, and I think I will when I go.

By the way, I live in New York and the pizza around here is great....my brother says the deep dish pizza in Chicago makes the pizza here taste like you dug it out of the garbage!

i do miss the NY style thin crust pizza.  other than that its chill here.

it's not bad.  stuff to do.  good museums.  but rush hour in winter is very scary.

Great city, born and raised in it. The winters can get pretty cold but a lot of people exaggerate it, and our summers are pretty brutal though, at least this one is. Usually the winters are maybe only really bad for like a week or so and its not like HUGE ARCTIC BLIZZARDS or anything its just snow like many many other places that get snow. Great place for lots of culture and fun, and were not just known for our gangsters. I hate when I go somewhere and say I'm from Chicago and they say, Oo Al Capone bang bang gangsters, that sort of thing. I've been to New York many times and I would say that is a lot better than it. New York gets way to congested, and although its a great city, gets a little to rushed. They have Central Park, which is okay I guess, but Chicago has their lakefront which is probably one of if not the best lakefront in the world. Just beautiful driving down Lake Shore drive and seeing the sights. You can do everything from small town stuff to huge metropolis stuff.

I hate it there! And all the annoying people who live there come up here to Wisconsin and annoy us even more!

Winter's pretty bad there! Course it's even worse up here in northern Wisconsin!
