  1. Great for some people.

    Horrible for others.

Me? I don't like it at all. I hate it. Down right despise it in fact, lol....

Why? Because it stoped me from at least having a few simple pleasures in life most people take for granted.

I will say though, I have gotten a great education.

Rather have friends, and a life though.

    =/

  2. Homeschooling has been a tremendous blessing for my family. Public school was just completely wrong for my daughter and we struggled with her for years before we finally started homeschooling. She is learning and she is happy. What more reason do I need?

  3. I think that all children would benefit from homeschooling, if they have a parent that can provide the dedication it takes.  It is not for everyone, though, because it does take a lot of dedication.  For those that can not be homeschooled, public school is a good alternative.

I homeschool my children-they are ages 10 and 7 and we also have an infant in the house.  They have always been homeschooled.  I believe that homeschooling is superior to the alternatives because it is the only form of education that is completely customized to ONE child and the specific needs of that child-their strengths, weaknesses, interests, learning styles etc.  Schooling with a one-size-fits-all method and materials can not compare by any means.

  4. doesn't work.  The kids lose the interaction with other kids, school events, etc.  If the parent is a qualified educator, thats fine, but losing out on experiences both good and bad with other kids is valuable when trying to grow up and be an adult.

What happens to that homeschooled kid when they have to go off to college?  the adjustment to go from one kid in a class to 500 isn't easy.

  5. I think homeschooling is really good because more is learned. In regular school, students miss what's being talked about. Example... in my daughter's school there is a really good algebra teacher and a bad algebra teacher. She did so well when she had the good teacher, this year she is so lost she'll never catch up.

As long as the parents take it as serious as it is and make an effort to do activities outside the home it is great!

  6. it is better then public schools

  7. In my opinion, it can be an effective method of teaching a child, but it  isn't for everyone. It does however have several pros, such as more individualized attention, allowing students to work at their own pace, and in some cases providing more 'real world' experience to older home-schoolers. The parent or homeschooling group also has more say in what the student learns.

Most people I've spoken to seem to have the misconception that all homeschoolers are introverted or extremely religious, but in all actuality, the majority of homeschoolers I know are completely normal. And yes, I am homeschooled too. =)

  8. We are crazy about it.  My kids are already clamoring to find out what we'll be doing next year.  As a mom, I love that my kids are home, not only because I know they're safe, but because I really, really like them.  My kids are loving that they get to choose what they want to learn about and being allowed to pursue it in whatever way they are capable of.  The "socialization"  thing is really annoying, though.  When you know and spend as much time with other people and other homeschool families as we do, the whole issue goes from irritating to laughable.  When my kids were in school, socializing could be pretty much defined as bullying, popularity, labeling, violence and boredom.  Now it's field trips, outings, play arrangements, workshops, sports, music, arts and more.

  9. We love it! We get to work at our own pace learn what interests us and be with our kids all day! Yes I am learning as well. Heck learned more in the 1.5 years since we started this than I remember learning in ps.

We enjoy the freedom we have. School didn't happen this morning so now my daughter is working on math and we'll work on the rest tonight. We can start and finish when we need to. We can play hooky and go to the park if we want! Everything can be turned into a lesson (even if the kids don't know it).

My daughter (the oldest) has had more opportunity to socialize then she ever did while in the ps and she has more time to do it.
