Your opinion on globalization?

I've been studying the pros and cons on globalization, as well as reading Lexus and the Olive Tree by Thomas L. Friedman, and have yet to decide whether I'm for it, or against it. So what do you think? And please include strong reasons for your choice- that way I might be able to finally make up my mind... ^^

Contrary to what these clever people are saying, globalisation is not about choice but it is a natural progression due to expanding technologies - ie in communication and transportation. So we are stuck with it really.

Globalization of business is a good thing.  It opens markets for many companies and allows import of goods from elsewhere.  The current issue is that the standard of living and pay scale in the US is so much higher than in most other countries.  This means many manufacturing companies will go to other countries.  The US will need to find other ways to be leaders in the world.  This can be done through invention of new products and technologies.

Globalization of politics is not good.  Entities like the United Nations and NATO that have the power to tell a sovereign country how to run their country is a big problem.  Every country is different and has their own culture.  Each should have their own sovereignty.
