This is my fifth painting ever. The previous four were all abstract. It was done on a canvas board thingy (sorry, not sure about it's professional name!) and it's acrylic paint. This is the only realistic work of art I've ever attempted.

Also, if any of you are familiar with the movie (also musical) Hedwig and the Angry Inch, this is done from the scene in the movie in which she sings 'Sugar Daddy'.

Also the picture was taken using my macbook so it's flipped horizontally.

  1. the white outline around the knees/legs is poooorly blended with the blue (some parts it seems as if you didn't blend it at all!) so the glowing/popping look you were probably going for FAILED. and the knees and legs look un-proportional. Keep practicing..

  2. I think you definitely have talent.  You should paint very often and work on figures in particular, because you have done a nice job with the flesh and form.  A lot of beginners leave a white "halo" around the subject.  Try painting your background color FIRST and then the figure.  The white around the figure makes it look unfinished.  Don't be afraid to paint right up to the figure, the entire canvas is the work of art, not just the subject.  Take a painting class at the local community college if possible, you'll love it.
