Your opinions? (Allie)

Question

Okay, so I absolutely adore the name Allie for a little girl, but I don't like any of the names it could be a nickname for (ie. Allison, Alisha, Alyssa, etc). What's your opinion on naming a child just Allie?

just allie would be fine. i mean if that's what the Allison's and Alyssa's are going to go by anyways, why not just name her Allie.

You will be just fine naming your child Allie. I have met a couple Johns who are not Jonathon or anything.. Just John. I'm not giving my unborn child a middle name at all so if anything I'm going to get more than you would for Allie = )

it would be better if  she was named allison or some name like that because when she grows older and has a job she might want to sound more profesional and be called allison or alyssa or something...you could at least name her one of those names and call her allie, never using her real name but so that later in life she doesnt have to sound like she is young (0-20 yrs)

I like it. It's not a "unique" name, but it's still cute. I'd name your child "Alyson" and say 'Allie' like this, "Aly." I like that better.

wrong place to ask.you should ask your family and the people who matter to you that will say her name most i think it is very cute and just fine that is what you like and that is what you should go with.i love the name personally.but people here are so over opinionated.

and i am an Allison, but am asked every single day, "so are you and Allison or an Alexandra?" I think that it would get pretty annoying to have to explain to people that Allie is her full name. I would go with Allison or Alexandra.  just to make it easier

I always recommend giving a full name.  I am in the business world and resumes with dimunitive names, such as Allie, just are not taken as seriously.  I hope this insight helps, I am sure you want your daughter to have the best opportunities that life has to offer.  I agree, Allie is adorable.  Are there any other names Allie could be a nickname for?  I like Alyssa the best out of your list.  Good luck & God bless.

When I did daycare there was a little girl with Alley as her name.  I like it spelled better Alley too.

I think it sounds a bit more like a nickname than a full name. Allison is the first name that comes to mind when I hear it but Alyssa makes sense too. Why not name her Allison but call her Allie?

Why give the child a full name if she is never going to go by it?

I think it's perfectly fine naming a child Allie. I love that name. Exactly how you spell it and everything (mostly because of The Notebook, my favorite movie of all time). I say go for it name your daughter Allie. Adorable!
