  1. What came into my mind when the athletes of Iraq and Afghanistan marched was that the war killed most of their athletes that's why they only have a few left to join the Olympics!

  2. great. i was really impressed at china's ability. and as for the countries, i noticed the flatter of applauses when certain countries walked in. looks like the olypmics can never be purely a sporting event. when politics are brought in, the effects are marred. what a shame.

  3. why were the French there? I thought they didn't want to come

  4. Frankly, I was dreaming.  I'll watch the reruns. These things are long & I can't stomach the political stuff.

  5. I always like the Parade of Nations. Beyond that, I guess the commentators (in America) could be better. You can tell when they don't know enough about a nation to say anything intelligent. They say "This is a geography lesson" or "Following (nation) is (a nation they know something about)"

They also made a few comments that never needed said, like when they singled out an athlete and said "He'll be done tomorrow" and a few of their comments when Middle Eastern nations walked out.

Aside from that, it was great!

  6. yao ming is freakin tall!

  7. It must have been very hot and humid, because even the athletes were sweating.
