I am planning to visit Cozumel during May.

1) Is May a good month to visit?

2) I am looking into all-inclusive resorts, do you recommend any? Why? What was your experience like there.

3) If I chose not to go all-inclusive, would dining be expensive?

4) You are welcome to throw in any other tips for Cozumel.

Thanks...

  1. Choose all-inclusive for sure.

Cozumel is a small part of Mexico it's fun to go there for a day trip but gets boring for a whole entire vacation. But it is gorgeous.

  2. I was there in April. Cozumel is great for snorkeling.

In Cozumel, there's plenty of shopping available there. Make sure you go along the courtyard that's just behind the main road when you get off the pier. There's a guy that works on the street back there that does spray can art. It's a cool process to watch. Also, make sure you look up the roads to see shops that aren't on the main street. Don't give the price they are asking. If you show that you are interested, walk away and they will start yelling cheaper prices. I bought a hammock from a street vendor. He wanted 75 dollars. I walked away and came back to pay 18 dollars for it.

You're going to have a blast. The last tip is to take a lot of pictures. Everyone will be asking to see them!

I'd say that May is a great month to visit.  If you don't go all inclusive, we found dining to be around the prices here in the U.S.  We ate at Carlos n Charlies...but there are also places like Margaritaville, Senor Frogs, and various other places.  There is also a great store that is about a mile down the strip called Chedar.  It's great for local food.  It's basically a shopping store.  Make sure you have some pesos though...they had a little trouble with our American money.

You have to snorkel though.  They have a great reef system so find someone to take you out to look at it.  Take some time to check out the downtown part for the shopping.  Don't forget to look up the streets for shopping areas that aren't as noticeable.  They seemed to give a better deal.

Hope you have tons of fun.

  3. 1. May will be beautiful (sun with some overcast)

    2. Don't know of any from experience, but get a list of all the all-inclusive resorts and research them on tripadvisor.com.  You can check out candid photos (not the fake hotel photos) and read reviews (you'll get pros and cons)

    3. Dining was a bit pricey, but you get a lot of food.  Unless you can take a doggy bag to the hotel, I would suggest doing the all-inclusive.

    4. Cozumel has the most beautiful waters I have ever seen.  Make sure you spend some time on the beaches.  I found a ton of unique shells on the beaches.  Also, friends of ours went on the Mayan Ruins tour and had a blast.  Senor Frogs and Carlos and Charlies (restaurant and bar) are a 'must see' even if you don't drink you will have fun dancing.

Have fun and beware of the street hounds.  You'll find a lot of people trying to sell you jewelry and all kinds of things.  Just politely say 'no' and walk away.
