  1. the funniest time was when i was riding this wave (about overhead +) and this bodyboarder just drops in out of nowhere and loses control and flips over and i can see his faical expression through the water. he was soo scared. it was so funny.

the best wave i caught was a wave down in nicaragua that was almost doubble overhead. i thought i was going to die because of the drop but i made it and caugh the best barrel of my life. this was recent too. like a week ago. and i havent been surfing all my life so this was a great experience. it was jsut awesome

  2. I've been surfing since '66, and I was body surfing and body boarding before that/ However, there are one or two rides over those 42 years that I actually remember.

It was late summer, and there was a big tropical depression moving up the Atlantic kicking up huge swells and heavy currents. Because the beaches were filled with tourists, the lifeguards let the guys they knew go out and surf on the first day. But on day two, they just plain shut down the surfing beach. My buddies and I were incredibly frustrated and a couple of guys went out anyway, earning them the wrath of the beach patrol. They came back in rather than create too much trouble.

I loaded up six or seven pals and strapped our sticks to the roof of my '67 Impala and we drove to a town with an unprotected beach and we headed out. I remember one wave that day.

That one was riding backside on a beautiful head high left with the late summer afternoon sun sun low in the sky, giving a sort of golden aura to everything. I was riding my 7'6" Rick round tail in about 1970. What a ride. It seemed like it was going to last forever. It seemed like there was no sound at all. Although much of the day had been filled with big wind chop waves, and "Victory at Sea" swells, this was a prefect, peeling left.

I had ridden hundreds and hundreds of waves before that one, and thousands after, but for some reason, that's one of the few I remember. I guess because it was late in the summer and the melancholy that always goes along with that made it a little more memorable.

Now, if you want to buy the beers, I'll be happy to sit around and tell you 42 years worth of surfing stories. (but I will make most of them up as I go along. Remember, Old Guys Rule. The older I get, the better I was!)

  3. as you may have guessed, im a femal surfer..hahaha...but to me, all my best time are when i am actually surfing...i dont reallt have funny times... but its kinda weird when theirs no one in the water and i be the brave on and go out their first and then you see a bunch off people following me out to were im surfing....or when your on a wave and you have some dumb @$$ in front off you and they get scared that they might get hit and they have the funniest expressions on their face.HAHA...or when its a really flat day and then the wave of the day comes and everyone goes for it, but they all miss it....yeadayeadayeada

  4. Dude my funniest memory of surfing was when I caught the perfect wave in San Diego and I look to the left and there is a seal body surfing in the wave right next to me.
