if there are any Redskins (or any fans really...) what do you think of Colt Brennan after the preseason game the other day? You have to admit he has a nice touch to his passes and he is dead on accurate...I think he can develop into a good QB in another 2 years or so. even though he played in a "system" he still has the tools to make it in the NFL in my opnion. discuss

  1. I thought he did well passing the ball. He seems to have picked up the skins passing offense...or at least the plays he was running. This might just be the right "system" for him, who knows too early to tell. Ask the question again after their last preseason game.

  2. no it wasn't a fluke. he looked very impressive but it was just a preseason game. When it comes to actually mattering is when you have to make it worth while. I do think he was a great pick up for the Reds though.

  3. It was Pre-Season. Completely meaningless. The Colts do not even try to win in Pre, they are just looking at players and plays. So, the Jury is still out on Brennan. Wait to pass any kind of judgment on the poor boy until he's got a few regular season appearances... I can never understand the need of some people to say "This guys a Hall of Famer", or "This guy's a total wash out" based on one or two perfarmances. Especially in Preseason! It's like judging a Quarterback based on what he does during garbage time!

  4. First off, let me say that no one paid the proper respect to Colt Brennan during college that they should have. I blame this on the East Coast biased commentators and sports writers. The only western team they'll acknowledge (and begrudgingly, might I add) is USC. That being said, Colt is a very good QB. I think it will take time for him to develop into and NFL QB because I don't think he'll pick up the playbook quickly, and he'll need to stay in the same system for a couple of years. But I think he has a fair chance to unseat Jason Campbell in a few years because now that Jim Zorn is the coach of the Redskins, if Campbell makes too many mental mistakes, then he could easily turn to one of HIS draft choices and ask them to perform.

  5. it wuz just preseason

but he did prove that he has alot more potential then people give hime credit for

Im a Colt Brennan fan and i thought the ball didnt come out of his hand great, but those passes were perfectly thrown

so I think right now 3rd string, next few years 2nd when collins retires and brennan and campbell can have a QB battle

brennan is 3 or 4 years from tony romo, who also took 4 years and became a pro bowler w/ a bunch of cowboy records

  6. I am not a skins fan but I have to say he looked good. When they showed his college numbers I think that showed his performance was not a fluke. He is definitely a player to watch as he developes. He has a great coach to help him develope into a pro QB.

  7. pretty impressive, he was really accurate even though it was a pre season game, he still did it on PRO nfl players and the people hating on him here should try out for QB at the NFL level and see how many passes you complete in a preason game.

  8. Colt Brennan is the ****. When you all understand that, you'll be better people for it.

  9. last year me n my freinds loved brennan this year they all hated him except me, i thought he should of been the number 1 QB taken but he had a ok year and a bad bowl game, he looked impressive in the redskin game, but u have to remember, he faced a bunch of people that never wore an NFL helment and people that probaly wont make the team, im not sayin that he sucks, im saying he should start and they should trade campbell for more good players in my opion, but he'll be ok

  10. dude he played against a bunch of 3rd string guys

f***ing ryan leaf can beat a bunch of 3rd string players

does anyone realize the colts werent the colts?

no addai, no manning, no harrison, no sanders, no freeney, no brackett, and all their starting cbs were out

    WTF people!!!

when he finally played a good team in college he choked and lost big time!

he played in a weak no name division wtf people!

watch when the redskins play the cowgirls in the cowgirls stadium, and brennan starts, he's gonna throw 6 INTs and go 3 for 20 haha

  11. It was no fluke. Look at the numbers he put up in college and how high his completion percentage was. With that many passes and and a high completion percentage this guy can play. He even showed it in that game going 9-10. Say what u want, but they are still NFL players he was going up against and they are all better than college football players. I see him taking over the starting job at QB some time during the season. MARK MY WORDS.

  12. I have to say, I was very impressed not only by his accuracy, but also by his general poise in the pocket and willingness to hold the ball long enough to let plays develop. You have to remember, he was playing against third team defense at that point, but it was still a very impressive effort. The "system" QB tag that Brennan got stuck with was a little unfair, considering that all QB's play in some kind of system, and his just happened to be a West Coast Air-It-Out style offense. Overall, I think Colt is a player in need of development, but from what I saw, he could be good.

  13. Fluke...Colts had hardly no starters...no Bob Sanders, Dwight Freeney, Gary Bracket...But Brennan will get the starting job by week 8 I think.

  14. Not to say it was a fluke, but I've seen great pre-season performances to be a wee bit jaundiced about them.  I mean, maybe he is really good, but maybe that said more about Indy Colt players that shouldn't make the team.

  15. At University of Hawaii they played 'street' football; managed kaos thats all (add a running game and a defense and you have the Patriots).  Have you ever tried to play with the Rainbows on NCAA, its h**l.  He must have lots of stamina because they have like 4 or 5 total running plays and that included the shovel pass.  The games used to last forever because the clock would stop on incomplete passes, or passing touchdowns.  He can play Arena Footbal definitely, Canadian Football League probably, NFL, not at this time.  He would get eaten alive, maybe after some years elsewhere until he's stronger, experienced, and fully recovered from his hip surgery.  Doug Flutie he may be someday, for now he's waay off.
