He is giving some prized possesions to the king and queen of his home land. Only he keeps a ring that Queen Wealtheow gave him. It says, "He couldnot bring himself to part with this"

i think he loves the ring as his prized possesion. and he can sacrifice anyhting but not the ring. and the quote explains that he couldnt have the stomach/guts to give the ring otu
