Taking the family (husband, wife, 4 year and 2 month old) out to a nice well known restaurant. You enter and it's not crowed. Your seated and it takes 15 minutes for waiter to arrive with menu. Takes another 20 minutes for them to return to order. You go salad bar and about 1/4 the serving trays are empty and another 1/4 about empty. You get what you can and find there is no dressing. You ask for some and takes 5 minutes for it to be brought out.

Returning to table still no drinks. You nibble at your food till you find someone (another 5 minutes) to ask to bring out drinks. Your food is servered and potatoe has sour cream when you asked for no sour cream. The 4 year old's hamburger is practically bleeding and wife's chicken sandwitch and fries is cold. 10 more minutes to ask again for hot food and a well cooked hamburger and your told that their hamburgers are server "med/rare).

  1. Write a letter to the owner of the restaurant, describing your experience in detail as you have just done.  Let him/her know that you will not be eating there in the future, and that you will be telling everyone you know about the experience.


  2. This was unacceptable.  

    First, children are not supposed to be served rare hamburgers.  My son was happy when he became old enough to order a medium-rare hamburger in a restaurant.  

    You should have asked to see a manager before you paid the bill.   if this is part of a chain write to the corporate HQ.  Most chains have websites with customer comment areas.  Don't threaten never to go back.  Just clearly state what happened and allow them to make it right.  Let us know how they respond.

  4. Well I would assume the manager was off that day.  And he has no competent staff to replace him

    Then I would call  or write a letter, explaining the dire circumstances of your dining experience.

    I would tell the person that you expect a refund for this fiasco and the only reason you paid the bill in the first place was not to cause a scene.

    If you get denied the refund then I would make a comment such as "fair enough, then I will start telling people the kind of service, and food I received".

    If al else fails bring out the big guns and picket the place with big huge signs with saying like,  Full price charges for minimal services.

  10. Well to start with no tip is deserved for lousy service. Second if it is a chain restuarant you complain the the main office.
