hmm, interesting its all girls posting here....

i recently watch wall-e, even tho its about a pair of robots its incredibly romantic and touching, and not at all soppy. its a really incredible movie. also, the movie amelie is one of the most romantic movies ive ever seen, even tho its a bit of a girly movie it is still very quirky and interesting. and for an unconventional romantic movie, try fight club.

*spoilers*

if youve already seen it, just consider: the entire movie is about this guy who creates this character, tyler durden, so that he can be the person this girl wants, because he feels he is so inadequate he cant be with her. and they hook up at the end. other than the fighting and the violence, thats actually pretty touching

I'm a hopeless romantic ... here are my top 10 w/a mini summary (in no particular order):

MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA: Nitta Sayuri reveals how she transcended her fishing-village roots and became one of Japan's most celebrated geisha and the love of one man that made it all happen.

CIRCLE OF FRIENDS: 'Circle Of Friends' is set in 1950's Ireland. The movie focuses on Benny Hogan and her best friend, Eve Malone. The story centers around Benny and Eve as they enter student life at University College, Dublin. Here Benny and Eve meet and befriend the ice-cool Nan Mahon, the 'college belle'. They also encounter the handsome and charming Jack Foley, whom Benny quickly falls for.

THE NOTEBOOK: The movie starts in a nursing home with Duke reading to an older woman, whose memory is slipping from her more and more every day. Duke reads the story of two lovers who meet in the south at a carnival. Allie was 17. A city girl from money, and Noah was a country boy. The two spend the whole summer together but Allie is forced to move and go to college although she was willing to give it up for Noah.

P.S. I LOVE YOU: A young widow discovers that her late husband has left her 10 messages intended to help ease her pain and start a new life.

ANNA AND THE KING: This is the story of Anna Leonowens, the English schoolteacher (Jodie foster) who came to Siam in the 1860s with her son to teach the children of King Mongkut (Yun Chow Fat). She becomes involved in his affairs, from the tragic plight of a young concubine to trying to forge an alliance with Britain to a war with Burma that is orchestrated by Britain. In the meantime, a subtle romance develops between them.

LOVE ACTUALLY: Follows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely and interrelated tales all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London, England. Stars Hugh Grant and Colin Firth.

A WALK IN THE CLOUDS: What if a married man helps an abandoned woman who is pregnant, and offers her to show up together in front of her father, and leaves in the morning?

TRISTAN AND ISOLADE: An affair between the second in line to Britain's throne (Franco) and the princess of the feuding Irish (Myles) spells doom for the young lovers. Stars James Franco, Sophia Myles, Rufus Sewell and David O’Hara.

SOMMERSBY: Set in the south of the United States just after the Civil War, Laurel Sommersby is just managing to work the farm without her husband Jack, believed killed in the Civil War. By all accounts, Jack Sommersby was not a pleasant man, thus when he returns, Laurel has mixed emotions. It appears that Jack has changed a great deal, leading some people to believe that this is not actually Jack but an imposter.
