When writing a novel do you prefer to use first person,or third person narrative and why?

Prefer third person. First person takes away the omniscient viewpoint forcing one to figure out how to tell things in the first person in order to inform the reader. One has to resort to conversations, flashbacks. Whereas the third person omniscient can simply inform.
