Yousuf backs Lahore http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 to do well in the T20 tournament – Cricket News Update
Pakistan’s former captain and discarded middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Yousuf-c77465 believes that Lahore Lions have a very good chance of clinching the upcoming domestic T20 tournament if the team plays up to their potential.
The high-profile event is going to commence in Lahore from December 2, with a lot of regional teams working hard to enhance their chances. There is a lot at stake in the tournament as the winner will take part in the next year’s Champions
League T20.
Yousuf, who is making a return to domestic cricket after a couple of years, will captain Lahore Lions in the competition. The Lions are considered to be one of the favourites of the event, having the services of a number of quality
international players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aizaz-Cheema-c961.
On top of that, Pakistan’s T20 captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898 is also going to represent the Lions for the first time, following his differences with the Faisalabad Wolves.
While speaking to Pakpassion, the great middle-order batsman expressed that his team possess many star players, who can help Lahore beat any side in the battle.
Yousuf is also keen to impress the selectors by his form and fitness and strengthen his case for a return to international cricket.
“I don't see myself as the ‘prize’ wicket in the upcoming tournament. There are a number of high quality batsmen taking part in the tournament,” said the Lions’ skipper. “I will just try and do my best for the Lahore Lions. We have
a nice balance in the team. If we perform to the best of our ability then we could do very well in the competition.”
With more than 17 thousand runs at the ultimate level of the game, including 39 centuries, Yousuf is surely one of the best batsmen produced by the country.
The 38-year-old cricketer is expecting the T20 tournament to be a well-fought one.
“Twenty/20 cricket is difficult to predict, one innings or one spell of bowling can turn the match on its head and I'm sure all of the teams will go into the tournament with high hopes,” he added.
