  1. I love the idea of the mini fridge and the food, drinks, and snacks.  I'm not sure I would charge for that though, it is a group that you're all there for.  Maybe the members can take turns at each meeting and bring something.  Like one brings sodas, the other brings chips, another brings water, etc.

What about hanging up pictures of the members?  This is their room, and you are the members, you can do group pictures and hang them up, pictures of the group at different events,  individual pictures of the members, etc.  This way everyone has their pictures up, and a group picture would really personalize the space.  I also think pictures of the group doing different events is a great way to personalize the space too.

You can also hang some of those round, paper, lanterns, the ones that have NO lights in them, but you can hang them from the ceiling at varying heights just to add some decoration and fun too!  You can get white ones, pink ones, but I think white would go with whatever colors you're decorating with.

You can also get some clear, stringed, Christmas lights and decorate the room with them.  This way you don't always have to have the blaring overhead room lights on and they add more mood lighting than a lamp does.  It would look really nice and add a really nice touch around the room.  They even make lights like this with paper lanterns on the lights which would look nice, etc.  I think this would look cool and the group would love it!  These lights always add a nice touch!

You can also accessorize with paint, which always dresses up a room and transforms it for not a lot of money if you're allowed to do that.  You can add some pillows to accent, etc.

You can add some lamps,  the mini fridge or even a regular fridge if the mini fridge won't be big enough, but I think having some kind of snack bar would be a BIG hit!  You can take the cabinets, if they're low enough and have the snack bar be on one, where there's the fridge and snack area, a place to hold chips, snacks, etc.  The members can chip in and bring the snacks.  I'm sure being it's for their group, it's something they would be willing to do!

If the group has colors, you can decorate the room in those colors and add accents in those colors.  Things like pillows, vases, in the colors of the group.   Things like that would also make it personal.

I would also add thing like bean bag chairs for the kids to lounge in, a homework area for them, a table for them to sit at if they want to do their work, or eat, or hold meetings, etc.  Have it like a lounge and hang out area where they can go and hang out and feel like this is THEIR space.

You can also add a message center with either chalk board paint or a with a chalk board, dry erase board and then a cork board, this way messages can be left to other members.

I hope some of these ideas help!  Good luck with your contest!

  2. I like the idea that the person above me suggested, with a fish tank. You can get really exotic fish too, considering you have plenty of money to spend. Just make sure someone will be by to feed to fish when the need to be fed.

Hey, here's an idea! Get a lot of paint and let everyone in the youth room decide on a mural and have everyone paint it. It'd be a fun activity and it would look cool, too.

See if you can get a lockable mini-fridge, and stock it with sodas, drinks, and ice cream bars. To help pay for the food and drinks, give the key that opens the fridge to the youth director, and only use it after you pay a certain amount of money. Does that make sense? Like, if you wanted a Coke, you'd go to the youth director, pay him/her for the Coke, she unlocks the fridge, and you grab your drink, so no one steals from the fridge.

  3. you can try a tv or a computer?? maybe even a fish tank!!!!a desk or a snack table??
