Yovani Gallardo to start Game 3 of NLCS for Milwaukee Brewers – MLB Playoffs
The Milwaukee Brewers have slated Yovani Gallardo to start Game 3 of the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. The ace pitcher will face the Cardinals’ Chris Carpenter who outrivaled the Philadelphia Phillies’ maestro Roy Halladay
and won Game 5 of the NLDS by 1-0.
Yovani Gallardo will be looking to pose as a severe challenge to the Cardinals on Wednesday, October 12. The 25-year-old young starter has got strong arms with the variation that he remarkably exercises and improvises with credible success.
If nothing else, his last two games serve as the unerring evidence of his ever improving performance. Pitching 14 innings in the two encounters that he had against the Arizona Diamondbacks, he merely allowed two earned runs.
His ERA stands at 1.29 in the two games, allowing only 10 hits to the rivals. All the same, throughout the regular season, he remained a success with an astounding 17 wins to his credit in the 33 games that he played.
With a WHIP of 1.22, he had 207 strike-outs in the 207.1 innings that he pitched, allowing 193 and 81 earned runs.
Gallardo will play Wednesday’s game on the Cardinals’ home ground. That usually is a disadvantage for the starter especially when he is young and has relatively less experience. Nonetheless, Gallardo can well claim success as he only allowed a hit on May
7 game against the Cardinals.
The biggest challenge that any hitter could pose is Albert Pujols. But the starter knows how to handle it. Among other things, Chris Carpenter, who is to face Gallardo in one of the biggest games of baseball, knows what the Brewers’ pitchers are capable
of.
"It's going to be a battle," Carpenter said. "Those guys can play, man. Those guys have some good starting pitching.”
While the Halladay and Carpenter encounter in the National League Division Series was big, the battle with Gallardo will be an equally interesting treat to watch. With the talent Gallardo has, the challenge for Carpenter is even more immense this time.
