Yovani Gallardo to start against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 5 – MLB Playoffs
Yovani Gallardo has got his name enlisted as the Milwaukee Brewers starter for the decisive Game 5 of the National League Division Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. If the ace pitcher succeeds in winning the game, it will enable the Brewers to make
it into the National League Championship Series.
The fact that the whole team has reposed their confidence and looks with the hope the starter puts additional responsibility on the pitcher’s shoulder, underscoring the fact that he has been an important and inalienable part of the Brewers.
"He's our ace," Brewers’ slugger Prince Fielder said. "We'll live and die with him."
Above all, the starter himself is genuinely looking forward to this encounter. His prime aim is to put the team on the winning track. Not showing overconfidence or much apprehension, all that Gallardo has is a careful and poised message.
"This is what it comes down to," Gallardo said. "That Game 5. Win or go home. We all know that in this clubhouse. We're going to come out prepared and see what happens."
Gallardo is known for keeping things simple instead of overly complicating them. Were his plans to work out on Friday, he would certainly change the entire course for the ambitions of the Brewers in the NLDS.
"The only thing I can do is go out there, make pitches, keep the ball down and go out there with a game plan. I'll do everything I can to execute that and go from there."
In the Game 1, he gave up only a run to win it for the Brewers.
In the regular season this year, Gallardo has made appearance in 33 games, playing all of them. With a 3.52 ERA, he has won a total of 17 games so far, having 207 strike-outs to his credit in the 207.1 that he pitched. With the stats that he has, Gallardo
indeed remains instrumental in the team’s victory.
Having been ranked fourth in the National League winning average (17 wins), there are hopes that Gallardo will do it in the series-decider Game 5.
