Yu Darvish a long term statement for the Texas Rangers – MLB News
The Texas Rangers’ general manager Jon Daniels stated on Wednesday, January 18, that their investment in Yu Darvish is meant to have a reliable hand in winning the World Series. His statement came after the club signed the Japanese player in a long-term
deal that is seen as significant for the team.
The Rangers had the deadline of Wednesday and they seemed all determined to capitalise on it. But the Rangers are not taking anything lightly here, or for granted. As Yu Darvish is expected to unleash his tremendous pitching on opponents in the upcoming
season, this pitcher has a lot of other things to do, as the team general manager put it.
"This was a step-out deal," general manager Jon Daniels said. "This is a major investment in a player who we feel can get us back to the World Series and help us win it. Our ownership really stepped up, and our scouts did as thorough of a job with their
homework as you possibly can.”
There might have been questions on the experience here. The player who has not shown up in any Major League Baseball game will certainly have a new stage to ascend now. That ascension actually requires commitment and all-out efforts.
Daniels, on the other hand, has complete faith in the player who has remained a two-time Pacific League Most Valuable Player. The deal is worth $60 million for almost six years. The player, all this while, will have a tremendous opportunity to lead the team
to their first World Series victory.
“We're bringing in a player who we feel has proven himself on the big stage. It's all about winning, and we're bringing in a guy with a big arm, competitiveness and a work ethic that works well for what we are trying to do."
The investment that the Texas Rangers has is certainly one of the most potentially rewarding in their franchise history. Yu Darvish has attracted immense attention due largely to his excellence in the Japanese League. The tall pitcher will have moments of
glory when he has his first task on the pitching mound this season.
