Yu Darvish likely to be the centre of attention in the next few days – MLB Update
Japanese pitching sensation Yu Darvish is all-set to make his mark in Major League Baseball this coming season and there are widespread rumours about the various teams that are expected to bid for the starting pitcher. Darvish has earned a name for him in
baseball circles and thus is likely to get a hefty contract with one of the best teams in MLB.
Many experts predict Darvish to play in the American League and more specifically the like of Texas Rangers, New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. The Rangers have already lost their ace C.J. Wilson to the Los Angeles Angels on a record fee and it seems that
money will be the only issue in determining whether the management of Texas agrees to land the hyped-up starter.
The Red Sox are in disarray at the moment citing various allegations, but the team has the ability to counter these allegations and focus themselves on their on-field performance – the thing which matters. They have a new manager in charge and the owners
are willing to go all-out in a bid to attain improved results for this upcoming season. Boston was in-line to qualify for the playoffs as winners of the AL East division, but lost their strength in the end to the mighty New York Yankees and later crashed out
of the postseason race on the last day of the regular season, losing their spot to the Tampa Bay Rays.
As it now stands, the Red Sox are looking to revamp their rotation and Darvish might be the perfect solution to their answers.
The Yankees have continued to deny speculations of them landing Darvish into the franchise, but critics will only believe once there is enough evidence of the management not being interested in the Japanese pitcher.
Analysing the Yankees’ bull-pen, Darvish seems to be their need at the moment. CC Sabathia is the only recognised pitcher at the Bronx and the management needs someone to play a supporting role, something which was missing in this past season.
It will be interesting to see how the Yankees play this game, given their past record of luring big names with a huge monetary incentive.
