Yu Darvish’s agents look forward to negotiations with the Rangers – MLB Update
Agents of Japanese pitcher, Yu Darvish, Don Nomura and Arn Tellem, said on Tuesday, December 20, that they were looking forward to talking to the Texas Rangers, as the latter won the negotiation rights. The development is reassuring for the Rangers considering
the fact that a lot of clubs were endeavouring to secure the negotiating right.
“The Rangers are an extraordinary franchise in an exceptional city with equally exceptional fans. Yu is honored to be prized so highly and recognized as a once-in-a-generation pitcher. We look forward to getting negotiations under way,” said Tellem.
A look at the budding career of this Japanese pitcher brings forward the excellence he possesses. Representing Nippon Ham Fighters in 2011, Yu Darvish proved too strong as a hurler for any batter to survive with a magnificent ERA of 1.44. Darvish, who appeared
in 28 games, had a stunning record of winning 18 out of them, losing only 6 in 232 innings that he pitched. The fact that he had no less than 276 strikeouts in these games serves as an infallible evidence of his impressiveness.
Also, while having twice won the Most Valuable Player of the Pacific League, Yu Darvish has the distinction of being in the possession of three strikeouts and two ERA titles in Japan, making him a pitcher to avidly seek.
All that has come the Rangers way is due largely to their exertions. The club’s general manager, Jon Daniels attributes the scouts in the organisation whose able evaluations made it all possible for the Rangers.
“We've got a lot of great scouts in our organization, a lot of guys whose evaluations I trust more than my own,” Daniels said. “We knew this was someone we might get involved with.”
Having won the bid to negotiate with the extraordinarily talented Japanese pitcher, the Rangers have undeniably uniquely placed themselves in the right position. It is a matter of time before they come up with a team in the ballpark where the rival teams
would find it increasingly difficult to overcome them.
