Yu Darvish’s induction will be like Christmas for Texas Rangers – MLB News
The Texas Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux said on Tuesday, January 17, that it will be nice to have Yu Darvish in the side and that if a deal is secured, it will be Christmas for the team.
"It will be nice to have him," Maddux said. "I'm sure a lot of teams feel that way. We'll see if tomorrow is Christmas or not."
However, all that heavily relies upon the successful contract bid whose deadline is on Wednesday. The Texas Rangers’ general manager Ron Washington had expressed his hope that the club will be able to sign him.
There was outpouring of emotions by the fans who were earnestly anticipating the securing of the deal. For many a fans, Darvish is already an ace and has the ability to bring success as both a starter or as a reliever.
But interestingly, while there is eagerness that the Rangers’ fans have in seeing Darvish in the team, there is a quiet but potentially raging debate as to whether the Rangers go for Yu Darvish or the free-agent slugger Prince Fielder.
Also, it turns out that Yu Darvish will be extremely cautious and meticulous in the deal’s outcome. That he is a quality pitcher and is already being paid well is a matter that has not gone unnoticed.
However, no matter what the nature of the speculations, it is very certain that the Rangers are focused on adding this tremendous player in to their powerful defence. Yu Darvish is a talented pitcher who can pound any offence in the world.
"He is a polished kid who can pound the strike zone and command the breaking ball," Washington said. "He's got a great body and a great work ethic. If we get him on the dotted line, he will fit right in."
Whether he is taken or not, or whether the Texas Rangers go for a deal with Prince Fielder, all will be clear by Wednesday. However, in all likelihood, it will be Yu Darvish whom the Rangers might have taken come Wednesday eve. The Rangers will be hoping
that acquiring Yu Darvish can have a positive impact on the team in the upcoming MLB regular season.
