Yu-Gi-Oh: When do Flip Effects activate?

My friends and I were having an argument about monsters with Flip Effects. My friends insist that flip effects only activate after the monster is destroyed in battle. So according to them, Raigeki destroys all monsters without activating any flip effects. Is this true?

flip affects only activate when a card is face down and then u turn it over so ur foe can see wat the card is ( face down to face up basically)

Flip effect monster activate whenthey are flip-summoned or attack when they are face-down...

If you friend played Rageki and destroyed your face-down flip effect monster than their effect doesn't activate!

they can activate whenever ur opponent attacks, they get flip summoned, then sent to the graveyard

and the Raigeki part is a tricky part...

this is why its banned in tournaments...

Raigeki does destroy everything... some say monsters do get there ability's activated

but to be honest they dont get activated

Flip Effects only work when ur monster is attacked while face down, or during ur next turn when u flip that monster ur self

but ya Raigeki does destroy ur monsters because it just destroys it an doesnt flip it

thats why Raigeki and Dark Hole are banned cards from tournament and legal decks

Raigeki is like a Dark Hole, destroys everything, so therefore, Flip Effects dont activate once theyre destroy face-down, same for Torrential Tribute! so if u activate a spell, trap or a monster effect to flip another monster by its effects, it will activate! like for example: Ceasefire, Swords and other cards that u can think of can flip monsters in order to gain its effects!

Flip effect monsters only gain their effects if they are flipped by the effect of a spell/trap or monster effect or if they are attacked.

Raigeki destroys them while they are still face-down so they will not gain their effect.
