Yu-Gi-Oh advice please?

Question

So i want to get into Yu-Gi-Oh cuz it sounds fun and competetive. I'm of course new to Yu-Gi-Oh, i know all the rules and such, I was just wondering where should i start. What type of packs should i get? What is a good type of deck to start off with? Are older packs the ones with the better cards or is it the newer packs? Any advice from some seasoned players would be great.

go wit da Invincible Fortress deck its a great way to lock in defensively n attack.

I think you should get Slifer The Sky Dragon because that ones good.It has 10 stars and it's X000.

1 theres a new yugioh card type comming out so i suggest u to get the yugioh 5D which is comming out and buy the starter deck for now and work on it with new packs from the GX series or the 5D packs

Please disregard the one about Slifer. I am a great player and I am willing to help you out. Start off either going on yugiohmint.com and buying some good boosters or make your own deck. Possibly 15-18 dollars if you choose the cheaper versions. Going to the store and getting structure decks work but still sometimes getting the direct cards you want works.

To add to the Forbidden/limited list, provided by JDC-Rams:

Dimension Fusion = BANNED

Return from the Different Dimension = LIMITED to 1

Allure of Darkness = LIMITED to 2

For a beginner, I'd suggest purchasing a pair of 'Machine Re-Volt' or a pair of 'The Dark Emperor' structure decks.

Gadgets can be fun, and are very cheap (Machine Re-Volt).

D.D. cards and others that remove cards from play are good for grasping the concepts of special summon and RFGing (The Dark Emperor).

The newer packs (Gladiator's Assault, Phantom Darkness, Light of Destruction and Gold Series 1) are the best packs to buy at the moment.
