Yu-Gi-Oh playing question?

Can I play a Dark Illusion (Counter Trap Card - Negate the activation of a spell card, trap card, or effect monster's effect that targets a face-up DARK monster and destroy that card) when i have dark monster(s) on the field when my oponent plays a Lightning Vortex (Spell - Discard 1 card. Destroy all face-up monsters your opponent controls.) or a Torrential Tribute (Trap - You can activate this card when a monster is summond [including flip summon and special summon]. Destroy all monsters on the field)???

No because it doesn't actually target them it goes for all of them-which isn't a target.

ummm... Nope Lightning Vortex or Torrential Tribute doesn't target any monster it kills them all without selecting target

So it doesn't directly target your DARK monsters and doesn't allow using Dark Illusion... Say goodbye to your monsters in this case ^^

Dark Illusion only negates spells, traps, or effect monster's effect when your DARK monster (only one) is targeted by it

targeted cards means when the card focuses on one monster

lightening vortex says destroy ALL monsters, so that does not count as target.

the dragon card "TYRANT DRAGON is destroyed by trap cards like torrential tribute, because torrential does not target, it destroys all monsters on the field, and tyrant dragon can only negate them if HE WAS TARGETED.

if i play divine wrath *discard 1 card. negate the activation and the effect of an effect monster and destroy that monster*

if i play divine wrath on tyrant dragon, the divine wrath card is negated first *DEPENDING WHICH CARD WAS ON THE FIELD FIRST*

the trap is negated first because it was targeted and also more importantly, it was summond first.

dark illusion won't work on lightning vortex and torrential tribute. those 2 cards don't target (since they hit more than one monster). a card that targets usually include "selecting 1 monster" and if the selected monster is removed from the field, the card's effect disappears

No... You can't because "Lightning Vortex" does'nt  targets a single DARK monster as you said that "Dark Illusion" only negates cards that targets a single DARK monster.

When can I activate it?

For example: You've attacked you're opponent by "Legend Fiend", your opponent then activetes, "Sakuretsu Armor". Then you would rather have a chance to activate "Dark Illusion"... Remember this, a single target is absoulutely different in targeting all monsters on either palyer's field...
