Yu Hang Sze clinches Women’s 100m IM title: Day two – 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup
Hong Kong’s athlete, Yu Hang Sze stunned UAE’ audience with her wonderful effort on day two of the 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup in Dubai, on Saturday, October 8. The evening session of the meet conducted the Women’s 100m Individual Medley event.
Sze was up against top contestants of swimming including Louise Hansson of Sweden and Yulia Efimova of Russia in the final meet. The race began in stunning fashion with the scintillating swims of Sze, Hansson and Efimova. Sze kept her emotions in control
and cruised her way by hitting the finishing wall with a wonderful time of 1 minute and 01.53 seconds to clinch the Women’s 100m Individual Medley title. The arena was amazed at the spectacular swim of Yu Hang Sze.
In the meantime, Hansson put forward an impressive performance and finished her distance with a sparkling mark of 1 minute and 01.66 seconds to win silver medal. In addition, Efimova caught the attention of the audience and powered the finishing wall with
an impressive time of 1 minute and 02.05 seconds to win bronze medal.
In the corresponding splash, Simona Baumrtova of Czech Republic and Wen Jing Teo earned fourth and fifth place honours with a time of 1 minute and 02.37 seconds and 1 minute and 08.31 seconds, respectively. Moreover, Gabriella Austin of United Arab Emirates
also grabbed the attention of spectators by powering the finishing wall in a time of 1 minute and 10.46 seconds to settle sixth. Pakistan’s Lianna Swan earned eight position in the respective meet after she touched the finishing wall in a time of 1 minute
and 13.48 seconds. Finally, the arena’s top three players were awarded medals and cash prizes after the session’s completion.
The 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup series is offering an exciting opportunity to the young guns to prepare hard for their upcoming meets for the London Olympics in 2012. The next round of the 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup series is set to take place in Stockholm,
Sweden, from October 15-16.
