Yu Sun snatches a main round spot from Shih Han in 2013 Badminton Asia Championships
China’s young but talented campaigner Yu Sun alarmed all the contestants by remaining invincible in Women’s Singles qualifying round of Badminton Asia Championships on April 16, 2013.
She locked horns with a Taipei shuttler Hung Shih Han and this encounter prolonged to 39 minutes before ending with 21-11 and 21-18 margin.
The Chinese lady showed her intentions immediately in the beginning of first set and maintained an upper hand all the way to final moments.
On the other hand, the opposing shuttler looked completely out of touch as she could not pocket even a single match point and faced a woeful straight-set defeat.
The battle heated up when Yu Sun launched an intensive attack and pushed her rival to back foot. She did not show mercy in the establishing rallies of first set and kept her opponent at the lower end.
She kept on moving forward on the points table at steady pace and piled up a significant figure of 11 before the interval.
This psychological edge helped her a lot in the latter part of game as she maintained an unassailable lead all the way to game point situation.
Though, Shih Han showed some spark in third quarter of the set but her fluctuated performance proved the biggest hurdle in her way to success.
Meanwhile, Yu Sun reinstated her dominance when it was needed the most and won the first set with an impressive result of 21-11.
The second set started with couple of gruelling rallies as both contenders in all departments of game. They displayed a splendid badminton craft and entertained the crowd throughout this crucial set.
Initially, Yu Sun relished full benefits of her first set win and enjoyed an upper hand but then the Taipei shuttler turned the tables with a strong backlash.
Shih Han raised her chances of success by prevailing in few back-to-back rallies and finished first half of the set with a respectable score position.
However, the latter part of game saw her making some fatal mistakes and bidding adieu to this event.
Yu Sun managed to rise on her toes in the final moments and locked the honour with 21-18 total.
