  1. The rulings state:

A monster must be summoned in face-up attack or face-down defense unless it's Special Summoning and the card says defense position is allowed

A monster may not change position on the turn it's summoned, other than by a card effect.

A monster may not change position after it has attacked, other than by a card effect.

If a card's text states a monster cannot change position until a certain time (Goblin Attack Force, for example), doing so is illegal.

Monsters may change battle position once per turn not by effect, if the above does not stop it from doing so.

So if you've just summoned or attacked with the monster, or the card text says you many not change it's position, than no, but otherwise, you may.

  2. On your next turn after you summon the monster, you may. You may not, however as those cheating duel academy kids say, summo n a monster in face-up defense position, unless the cards say otherwise.

  3. Of course it's allowed.  You just can't normal summon in face-up defense position and you can't flip summon from face-down defense position to face-up defense position.  I've seen people do that on YouTube videos and I wanted to scream at my monitor.  lol.

  4. yea but i don't no the other part

  5. yes but if you summon a monster in face-up attack position, you can't switch it to defense on the same turn. but you can use a card effect to switch monster positions

  6. or with a card effect like book of moon

  7. yes, you can, but you can't during the turn you summoned the monsters because that would be the same as to summon it in face-up defense position, wich you can't. you can only do this if the efeect of your monster says you can
