Yuekun Chen claims his first major title at Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold 2012
Yuekun Chen, who is one of the most talented players in the younger lot of China, played with terrific precision and claimed his first major title at Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold 2012 in Macau, on Sunday, December 2.
In the Men’s Singles final encounter, Yuekun showed a great performance against his compatriot Huan Gao and remained successful in winning it in a dominating fashion in just 38 minutes.
The in-form Yuekun, who started his campaign in the tournament as an un-seeded player, made his presence strongly felt to the world and managed to stamp his mark over Huan in a dictating manner.
Yuekun played spectacular badminton in the opening game and took it with a stunning margin. However, he had to work a little hard in the second game and he won it with a decent total to sell off victory in straight games.
On the other hand, Huan failed to continue his giant killing run in the tournament as he failed to put up strong show against his spirited compatriot and eventually lost the final battle without winning any set.
Yuekun delivered extremely well from the starting points of first set as he played with remarkable speed and grabbed the control of the game.
Until the end of first part of opening set, the in-form Yuekun got a strong position on score board by setting up a sufficient gap and maintained pressure on his rival.
After the mid-game interval, Yuekun stayed focused in the arena and remained successful in keeping a comfortable gap.
The positive and attacking play of Yuekun helped him to bag the first game with a staggering margin of 21-9.
Huan was once again in problem in the second game as he faced a cruel treatment from his challenger who was flawless on court.
The perfectly executed smashes and net killings kept Yuekun ahead of his rival all the way until the end of first half in second game.
In the second part of second game, the incredible Yuekun continued his comfortable run and easily bagged the second set by a stunning difference of 21-17.
Yuekun emerged as the title winner in a convincing fashion as he ended up the final battle with a dictating 21-9 and 21-17 score on the board.
