There's several deck types and although there's a lot of deck themes, all of them fall into one of the following categories:

AGGRO DECK

Any sort of deck that are designed to be aggressive, or offensive falls into these category. Notable examples are Six Samurai Decks, Machine Decks, Zombie Decks. Another slight variation of this deck are "Control Deck" and Beatdown Deck. Examples of a control deck is a Jinzo Deck; it significantly limits your opponent's options on a duel while you are at a slight advantage to deliver your attacks. Beatdown Deck on the other hand uses powerful monster for heavy attack damages.

BURN DECK

This is the sort of deck that uses hordes of spell/trap effect that deals with direct damage. Monsters on these decks are either effect monsters that deals direct damage or stalls to protect the user's LP

EXODIA DECK

Do I need to say any more to these? They rely on drawing power to bring out the five Exodia pieces for an auto win.

MILL DECK

Any deck that uses effects that destroys the opponent's deck/hand cards are called a Mill Deck. Users of this deck aims to win via deck out or by simply ruining the opponent's playable cards.

RFP DECK

A deck that has tons of RFP effects. These effects usually cripples an opponent's gameplay while it makes the RFP user comfty on the duel.

STALL DECK

A deck that relies on high DEF monsters and stall cards. This deck is usually use in combination to other deck for maximum effect. Example: Stall decks are use in burn decks in order to protect the user while delivering direct damages, they are also used in Exodia to guard the user's LP while they're waiting for the 5 pieces.

Any other deck theme that has a characteristic that falls into one of the mentioned above falls into such category.

Final Countdown Deck (stall)

Gravekeeper Deck (RFP)

Monarch Deck (Aggro and *control)

uh well i made a near invincible deck filled with fairies. But i made it to increse your life points with spells traps and monster effects. And it was effective because in a duel i managed to get my life points to abot 35,000 before and i won. But you need NEED NEED! 2 dancin fairies cards, atleast 1 solemn judgement and 2 or 3 red potions. also make the deck have good spell cards that decrese your oppenents life points like ookazi etc

what do you mean?like a certain type deck?if so then it would be like this-

fire-i would say is mainly based on certain spells and certain effects of monsters

machine-quite powerful cards,good effects(cyber stein and cyber dragon) and powerfull fusions (cyberend dragon and cyber overlord dragon)

their are alot decks you buy like dark emporer and decks you make based on what they do like fire you would put fire cards in and cards that help them. depends on what you want to do.
